Can anybody explain, why puzlle games should have a scoring system altogether? If you have solved the problem - you're the winner, here is a star. If you didn't - well, try again or do not, it is your choice. What other objective does giving a star to a player based on a "score" pursue?
You know, if a game happens to be without plot and without creative game elements, what else should get players interested in this game? A detective does not go and shoot everyone he sees. A logical outcome of such endeavour would be death. If your plot does not have this as the result of first mission, it is rubbish.
Moreover, as a shooter platformer there are some way more fun and dynamic games with better AI, and with some sort of character development. This game has none of those.
This game is awesome. What is more awesome is the fact that it is evident that developer grows and learns on his mistakes, making consecutive games more and more awesome. Sadly, it is a rare sight among today's games - a game in which you have to actually think before buying an upgrade. This game is a fine example of what a good balance can do to a game. You can have a trivial plot like "You're good, they're bad, go kill'em'all", you can have simple graphics, and still your game can be good because of the balance. It challenges the player and stimulates him to move forward, making the gameplay not repetitve. Instead, in the majority of today's shootemups we see thousands of "different" enemis which all are killed by a single volley of protagonist. However, it would be better (yet much-much harder to implement) to have something like mutually-exclusive upgrade system, i.e. if you buy one upgrade, you cannot buy another and vice verca.
Wow, thanks for all the nice words!! I second the much-much harder statement (although with some trial and error, I feel like it could work). What I enjoy in games is going from a little guy to beeing a badass! Therefor I opted for the posibility to get all the upgrades :p. Again thanks for the compliment ^^
Pictures vary seriously in difficulty. In some it is almsot obvious where the cat is and you need almost no repixels. In some, you need to repixel almost all image to guess where he is. It is worth to take difficulty into account when selecting a picture - maybe make the last 5 harder than the first, or create difficulty levels. Otherwise, highscore is just a matter of luck
If things cost too much for you, just don't be so bad at it. If you do not make mistakes and do not loose your combo, money flows in pretty quickly, since it gives you money for each 50 combo you get
Is it well-known that particle ball upgrade 3 is not doubling the damage, like the onther gu's counterparts. Unupgraded deals 4/5*1+1/5*5=9/5 damage; upgraded - 4/5*1+1/5*10=14/5, resulting in 14/9=1.55, or 55% increase, which is way weaker. Not to mention that particle ball is the most expensive one to promote, thus is usually promoted after pulse gun is promoted to the next level. So a particle gun needs some overhaul, I think
They are cheaters you can't beat the end Boss without charger level of at least 2, and even then you need to be a god, (or my brother apparently)
