Unfortunately the last few levels rely on the sheer luck of the CPU not deciding to just come stop your sorry cell ass on the first three moves...it's pretty much random whether or not they'll decide to take other things first.
I like the addition of tips for that specific encounter when you die. Nice touch. Oh, and Epic is...OUCH. I'm gonna need some time to figure this out :)
It's doable on insane, but it takes a lot of luck to not get an uninterrupted floor of birds, or a solid wall of pillars. It could've done with some checks to make sure the map it throws at you is actually passable. Honestly though, mostly people are just getting worked up because they're trying it on a difficulty setting they wouldn't otherwise touch...
Bug: sometimes when you die, it counts as a victory upon reload. I conquered my home nation's capital this way, as well as getting credit for a couple Champion victories for hte badge.
Okay, so I played through this game when it first came out. Awesome. Played through it again for the 9 contest. Fine, fine. And like a week later they made ONE badge for it and I'm going through it a third time. Am I really that obsessive?
Well, after that rant...the controls are atrocious. The best part of the game was the random ways people would die. Also, Challenge mode seemed very inconsistent with when it would drain the bar and when it would fill it -- sometimes it would drain even when I had hit everything, or fill when I was missing things. And sometimes if you paused it would break the sound entirely, which is just sloppy. 1/5
@ escapeCHIODOS: Wait...you want us to rate based on effort instead of how fun we actually found the game? By that logic, friggen Sonic 2006 would be a decent game. Would you like to reconsider your point yet?
This game desperately needs a STOP command. Both to cut off a challenge if you botch it and don't want to wait three minutes to die, and for individual units. Maybe I don't WANT my bots to galumph around like they have ADHD, sometimes the best strategy really is to stay put.
I love how the badge explicitly says "ultimate survival" and people are whining because they didn't get their badge on super or zombie or something. Way to bring up the average IQ, guys.
Also, your perception of what constitutes 5 or 10 minutes seems to be rather warped. Maybe it's counting frame-time instead of realtime, but the 10-minute survival took about 25 just by looking at the VCR clock.
Fun until the last few levels with the dark blue guys that spam huge bombs. Basically they can charge up and drop like five of them right on top of you, and there's approximately dick you can do about it. From there on it's pretty much luck. Last boss is fun though.
On the plus side, great attention to aesthetic detail. Animation is spot on, and even the change in footstep noises to a metallic step when you go across a crane.
