How do energy-based games get badges, exactly? I get that Kongregate is totally on board with getting paid to badge a game, but surely the overwhelmingly negative PR from badging a game with Energy (i.e. a game that penalizes you for playing and wants you to leave and come back and play later rather than playing more now) makes it not worth it?
We had a successful Hot Games promotion in early September which lead to these badges. There may not be a lot of cross over between badge hunters and our regular players, but ti helps make people aware of our games!
Ok, having tinkered with the math, crit chance is 5 points "better" than multiplier - it's only ever worth raising your crit multiplier when the number of times you've raised your crit chance is 6 (or more) greater than the number of times you've raised your multiplier.
The stats screen lists weapon damage as a percent, rather than an absolute value, so it's tough to know how much damage your weapon actually does compared to the other two - e.g. starting out, both the assault rifle and sniper rifle say 100% damage, despite the sniper rifle hitting much harder.
This game desperately needs to let you upgrade how quickly the squirrel scoots to the mouse pointer - I don't mind earning this responsiveness, but I need it to enjoy playing.
For those investing in gun upgrades: Cocheta starts with his best gun, the Assault SMG, which is about equal with Diane's best gun, the Assault Rifle (her level 4 weapon). Do not buy his auto shotgun - it's not automatic, but costs more per upgrade than Diane's shotgun. Her shotgun is also terrible, and her Compact SMG isn't nearly as good as Cocheta's Assault SMG. When you're getting started, I highly recommend keeping Cocheta as your gunner with his SMG and Diane as your driver; his SMG should serve you throughout the main story, but if you're RP-rich, feel free to try out Diane's Assault Rifle, which is better at blowing up vehicles but worse at zombies.
This game would be strictly better with the ability to save progress partway through the level. Until/unless you let us save the game state, I can't give it a high rating - right now it's just frustrating/boring since you have to repeat the exact same thing over and over to get back to the part that's challenging you in a level.
Yeah, it spends your money in one transaction, then gets you the upgrade in another, so frequently you'll lose money but not get the benefit, since the first connection will succeed but the second will lag out.
Killing with spikes seems bugged - I just managed it, in a room with only jumpers, spikes, and rocket launchers, and it counted as a crossbow kill (no crossbows in the room).
My only complaint about the philosophy debating part is that John Stuart Mill's handling of the Monster Paradox is terrible in that he doesn't stick to his guns and defy Socrates to establish the core problem with hurting everyone else to make the Monster happy. It's just like when Socrates defeats Protagoras with Free Speech - Socrates just assumes other people agree with his morality instead of backing up his claims. :'(
5 stars base, -1/2 star for the terrible scrolling mechanic that doesn't let me consistently skip the scrolling without skipping the dialogue, -1/2 star for consistently misspelling "its" as "it's". 4 stars, amazingly fun.
