I disagree, there is definitely skill needed for this game. Altough it's a pity its more based on reaction and quick thinking than careful planning and real strategy. If it was more turn based like, I think I would enjoy it more.
hm... normally I am one of those people that think "damn this game is easy" and I see a lot of comments saying how hard it is, and I am like 'wtf how can anyone think this is hard?' Now its turned around for a change. I am playing the supposedly overpowered psyonic, and although with a lot of frustration, luck and tries I FINALLY defeated the swordsman, I keep dying, and dying, and dying... and don't even want to try the fourth boss anymore :p Its just too fast for me I guess, I always misstime everything, it is too frantic and frustrating too enjoy. Still rating it 4/5 because the idea is great and there is definitely put a lot of effort into it. Too bad that apparently I suck so much =p
there is a problem with reaction where there is either a delay where the character reacts to the arrow keys, or keeps running in a direction long after the key has been released. This is mostly when on OD so I don;t know if it is part of the game mechanics, but it is HEAVILY annoying... 4/5. Would be 5/5 with better controls
a very pleasant, nice, soothing and relaxing game, with an awesome song to boot. I will be coming back to this one, it is one of the few truly relaxing games here. 5/5 Symphony of light badge was actually quite easy to achieve, got it on my second try (barely but still =p)
and even more errors galore... doing knee stamp when pressing forward + attack, which is bound to triple kick. Doing regular kicks most of the time when standing still and using kick... gah -_-
goddammit! Giving this game another chance despite my grudges against the game mechanics, and AGAIN I lost my save game. And yes, my save limit is set to unlimited!
I've had it with this game, it is broken in so many ways, that even decapitating enemies doesn't save it... 1/5 and I would give it 0/5 if I could!
allright, first the good: whirling two-bladed staffs and decapitating enemies is good fun... and the bad graphs don't really deteriorate from that.
Unfortunately, the bad outweighs the good: 1. skills assigned to the same key combinations? wtf?
2. Unable to hit more than 1 enemies makes this game SO annoying
3. Enemies ability to use kicks, together with point 2, makes it easy for enemies to gang up on you, and there is nothing except from running or keymashing to get away. 4) It keeps loading an autosave from the first time I played it! So everytime I return, I'm back at some point during my first game.
These points make this game just an EPIC FAIL -_-
Altough initially I was a bit dissapointed in the third installment, it has quicly grown on me. A very addicting game, but the more interesting weapons are frustratingly hard to control, which is a shame really. Somehow when using the singularity cannon I never die because of escaped enemies, I always manage to blow myself up around tech level 20 by killing a nuclear track thats too close for comfort ^^ Love it!
@ anaconda, sometimes skills just doesn't cut it. I also played magic, professionaly, tournament level, but when you get the worse cards and the opponent gets only shub-nigguraths, dispels, elder signs, hounds of tindalos and dark young charges/miscatonic universities/ dark rituals etc no amount of skill can cut it.
I agree its too much luck based (especially the challenges) but saying its worse than RUNESCAPE is just harsh and very much untrue. Thats like saying Palm is worse than Heineken, pure blasphemy ;)
some people are never satisfied it seems. Megalomania used to be +3 arcane +3 taint each turn! Now with +2 arcane, +4 taint its often a prolonged sudden death for the player that gets it (especially combined with blackmail) and people are still complaining -_-
@ deity, the cthulu mythos is the name generally given to the collection of stories that deal with the elder ones, cthulu, azagtot etc etc. Started by lovecraft (who took some aspects like the 'unausprechliche kulte' from other writers, who in turn added things from lovecraft into their books) and later expanded upon by autors that were inspired by lovecraft. Its like saying something rips of lord of the rings because it has elves or orcs in it...
@mortos, what is 'weird' about challenge 21 is that every card you play that increases elder, arcane or life gives your opponent the same amount of elder/arcane/life. Whenever an opponent plays such cards, they are not added to your total. Then there were some other things, I believe any cards that would increase opponents taint, also increased your taint, things like that. If you beat it on your first try, it means you got a lot of good damage cards. In other words, you were lucky ;)
btw, I didn't want to flame your hard work. I, and many with me, are very glad with this game and your continued efforts. I ment what I said, but in hindsight the way I said it seemed a bit... harsh ;)
of course, the sanity in general is great and one of the things that makes this game unique, but my one grudge against it is that it doesn't really matter if you have -1 or -10 sanity (except when using sanity increasing cards to regain your sanity) And when you reach -10 and there is little hope to return to sanity without the asylum, you can just play sanity draining cards without any penalty at all. This just feels wrong
