Game comments and reviews

Gotta concur with the prevailing sentiment: This is a seriously grindy game. It's the grindiest grinder that ever ground. Launcher games inherently involve some grind, but in most cases you can upgrade every launch or two. On this one, you're lucky to do one upgrade every 10 launches. While the pinatas help, I'm not going to sit through a minute-plus ad in hopes of some decent coinage.

From the Dept. of Unpopular Opinions: I like the slowish pace of this game. It's not a "rip through it as quickly as possible" type of game. It's more of a "crank up the smooth jazz background music and chill out for a while" thing.

So is it just no longer possible to access the chain of dungeons that starts with the Underground Cavern (the ones on the right side of the map)? It's been so long that I don't even remember what unlocks them, but whatever it is doesn't seem to be unlocking these days.

@falo1324 I agree that this isn't exactly Undefined's strongest effort, but there's a little more going on than you give it credit for. There are several ways to heal without potions or mana gems. Characters return to full health when they're leveled up, and several of the magic-using characters gain heal attributes as they progress. Some are character-specific, some apply to the whole party. Also, each class can obtain weapons and armor that regenerate health. The ascension/descension system seems pretty straightforward to me: level up, find a shrine, take your chances. Once you've ascended a few different types of characters and you've found astral chests that allow you to use a larger party from the outset, you can start with a balanced team that overwhelms weaker enemies, making for quick leveling up. Of course, you're entitled to hate it on first look, but I'm glad I gave it a chance.

How to mute the music: On the main menu page, in the bottom left corner, see that little speaker that says "SFX ON"? Just to its left, there's what looks like a hyperactive bar graph which is apparently supposed to represent music levels. Click on it to bring up a volume slider. Click at the top of the red area and drag it to the bottom. The end. Yes, this is a grindy game. It doesn't pretend to be otherwise. But if you play it a few times, you'll start to get a feel for the different strategies. That's when it can get interesting, if you're into seeing how different configurations of traits, training and equipment play out over the long haul. If you're not into it, hey, that's cool. The home page probably features a shooter you can go play.

If the horse ride part is there to inspire rage-quit, it's doing a good job.

What was the required Flash version lowered to? It's still telling me that I need version 11. (Yes, I cleared my cache. Yes, I tried an alternate browser.) A little love for those of us who can't get Adobe to serve us higher than 10.3.183.29?

I was about to give up on this game, and then I decided to just go around and smash things. Whee! Smashing things is FUN! And if it happens that the last thing I smash is a cop car, then I get just as much money as I was getting when I was trying to play by the rules. Smash! Smash! Explode! BOOM! Ahem.
