Good progression, taticts and puzzling mechanics... Hard enough to make us sweat, but not frustrating or punishing to make us quit. Only point is the better ending being "walled" by just one death, something, that has low replay value (since the endings are static screens, don't see many people going for that). If you don't want to change that part, I suggest adding content for the best ending, for example a boss fight (good for the extra potions in case you grinded)
Some tips: There is no answer with "zero", so just start every level putting 1 on every tile. If there is a 5 number and two tiles, you also put both on 2, cause your answer will never be lower. Apply the same logic and you can finish this faster! // Great game overall, nice intuitive UI. 5/5
This concept has great potential, is cool to see how you tried to add depth to the mechanics, but in this current state I felt that all puzzles were solved by the same way, so didnt feel challenged enough. Wish this gets more added to, and would definitely check again! GG
This game is great, and I get your mindset of letting people decide to get the answers, also, good pun on "Quest Related Codes"... BUT, you really should listen to your audience and rethink your puzzles, they are not intuitive (even knowing that the answers were on the floor, I coudnt figure out the first one, and even with the QR Codes, didnt felt intuitive enough. Should I type the numbers? That being said, take more UX in mind, and your game has great potential. 4/5
For a "game dev challenge" product, I was expecting this to have only the first boss, was amazed to see the whole game. Entertaining fights, and gave a whole new meaning to "Time management". Would love to see an extended version of this concept!
I've got to the real ending (-5). This game should be great by its metanarrative potential. First time you break the 4th wall its amazing. But still lacks polishing in the execution, cause you gotta use to many "outside tips" for it to really work. Maybe have a "?" button with more tips (and maybe even some ingame use for that).
INTERFACE INTRODUCTION: Click on the form you want to transform your blob, then release it with "Pop" and click over. // Stone makes the blob turn into a barrier (works for both you and the enemy. Also, this is the only one that cannot be destroyed) // Smashed one is a trampoline // The one with a little head shoots bullets // The >> sign increases acceleration, and the STOP decreases (besides, the blob will stop after first jump) // The RED button can delete any blob already placed (its very important in some levels... After that things start to get a little crazy! 8D
Simple concept, easy to learn, yet entertaining and still (a little) challenging for beginners. Good graphics, animation and sound. Keep it up! This game style (one-button) would work great for a mobile series, btw
Thanks for the awesome game! Educational games are so hard to make, and also to keep entertaining. You have found a great mix! I'm little curious about japanese and even not knowing anything at start, I could still learn! :)
Some improvements if I can add: More curiosity about the letter, how they look like others, and etc... Knowing that "Ki" looks like a Key was great for me to remember it!
Great game, really standed out from what we've been seeing on Kong lately! If I can give you some notes on the physics side... From someone who plays a lot of platformers, I feel the gravity is too strong in yours. Also, the acceleration made the controls too slipery, what strangely made me feel that those white tiles were ice. But we're in hell, right?!
If the game wasnt so short and easy to respawn, probably those aspects would make it a lot more frustrating. So if you plan on doing more, please take a look at this.
Congrats on the great work! 5/5
:D Thanks mate! I appreciate it! [you notice, in your room, a little Porkin Librarian, a pink porkin 20cm/8in tall, with thick glasses, dressed in a long beige raincoat, taking carefully notes about your suggestions..]. Don't worry mate, Porkin Librarian wrote all down on paper. :D Porkin YEEEEEAH! (thanks again bro for the feedback, you clearly pointed out all the flaws and i appreciate it a lot) :D Porkin YEEEEAH!
Great game, really standed out from what we've been seeing on Kong lately. If I can give you some notes on the physics side... From who play a lot of plataformers, didn't like the gravity on this one. For a game that uses the double-jump feature, it felt to strong, pushing the player down. And the acceleration made some platforms a little too slidy (not sure if intended since the floor on hell seems to be...ice?)
Simple concept, but good work. You could probably rework some of the UI, like the yellow text as mentioned. Even if the game is mouse only. The twist to make this game gold would probably be upgrades. If you get a katana, fruit or whatever in your path, things get easier or harder (but with more points to be get). Great potential for a mobile game!
Really appreciate the great feedback! I agree, I definitely need to update the UI. Upgrades are also an interesting idea. I'll be coming back to working on this game soon so stay tuned ;)
One of the best 5-minute plays over on Kong in a long time since Idle Games took over the place. Solid background, nice mechanics and plot, but the music surely makes the difference here.
People may ask for more checkpoints, but since the game isnt long, I don't see why adding them. The lack of them are a feel, but soon as you master the mechanics and the map, you shoudn't even need to save.
Only thing I would change, if this makes a sequel: A way to know which were the secret paths, and to have more of them. The game ends up being too linear, but the concept can make a good metroid-vania platformer. 5/5
This game reminds me why I'm still at Kong. Amazing work, and you should deffinitely keep developing games! Hope to see more of you soon!
5/5 on music, animation, level design, pixel art, and even writing. Just feel it could be a little longer, but at least I'm leaving here wanting more, instead of getting out of the game before the first half because its bad. GG!
First puzzle answer is wrong. First row: 0-1-1-0. Second row: 1-0-0-1
