Where do I begin? The all-black silhouette graphics are the hallmark of the lazy designer, the controls suddenly change on level 6, reward cards are earned by time played with zero effort on the player's part, the power-up cursor doesn't line up with the power-ups, and so on. I'll admit I had a little fun though. This could be great with some work, but as it is? Pathetic.
Okay, this game is just ill-designed. I've tried every conceivable skill set-up, and the boss of level 4 launches ships that just take too many hits to kill compared to the rest of the level. Their health bars don't even move, which is either a bug or you don't know what the hell you're doing.
This is fantastic! I've always loved games of this ilk, even if they can be nonsensical at times (Shadowgate: Throw a star at the wyvern to make it explode? buh?). Are you going to port any more like this? This is a very well done port and I'd like to see more!
What the hell is up with those little bugs at the second beacon? I upgraded my armor extensively and they still kill me in three hits! This game is hilariously unbalanced.
This is R-Type. Not a rip-off of R-Type, this IS the original game transferred to flash and re-named. Just because a game is old doesn't mean the copyright has expired! one-starred, flagged, and now off I go to report this to Irem so they can sue you into oblivion for stealing their IP.
Game balance could use some tweaking. The player seems a little underpowered at the start of the game, but once I reached level 2 and upgraded the armor piercer there was no challenge.
Hurray for game-breaking bugs. Every single time I've played this my character continually takes damage a couple screens after the bat wave, and then the game locks up.
Great game! my only suggestion would be to add some sort of ending screen. Even just a simple "YOU ARE WINNER!" after beating the bonus stage would be a great way to cap off a very fun shooter.
Okay, now that the menu bugs are fixed, this is pretty good. I just have one complaint: What's with the tail? It just seems like it's there to make you an easier target. Otherwise, pretty solid game.
