Paying off your debt gives you a larger farm. Zones can't be named, its random generation. Just build landmarks. Backpacks are fine as they are. I think confusing map regenerates the wilderness. Also, I take it your playing on hard shrieky? You don't lose all items on normal.

Also,nearly all the weapons I have tried so far haven't been very useful. I kept one of the "weaker" weapons up till about level 16 cause all the ones after it were useless.
