Good game, but needs much more info back to players. What's that weapon on the ground? Which of the various boost-up equipment am I carrying, now that I've come back from save onto this level? That kind of thing. Also there are still too many bugs: places where you fall through the map and never re-appear, times when you can't stop moving in one direction (both noticed on level 6).
There were sometimes pop-ups saying that I got in-game badges, but I don't see how to look at which badges I've gotten.
Also, I don't understand what the spyglasses do. It says that I can see the cards of a particular type in an opponent's deck, but I can't. Also -- the items that are supposed to give +X health per duel in the campaign don't seem to actually do so, and some of them never show up on the awarded items list.

This game has the worst lag ever -- even worse than the first version. Fireballs are essentially useless, because I can't get them to go off until after heroes have already grabbed the gems. My computer doesn't do this with other games. It's always been a mystery to me as to why this game is so popular.
It needs autofire. There is absolutely no reason, in a game where there is no penalty for autofire, that you should have to hold a key down while you use the WASD keys and the mouse.
No reset button for skills! Come on, that was fixed way back in Protector I.
And the heroes cost wages even if you don't use them! Even if you look at a level and then immediately quit. Is this game purposefully designed to be annoying?
Far too many bugs. And the third level, casually called "Medium", is anything but. I've played through the first two Protectors, and there's no way that's a medium hard level. The problem is that in this version of Protector, you haven't been able to level up by then, so you can't choose skills that will help you. Also the awards don't work. Overall 2/5 for a new coat of paint on top of the same old chassis with several pieces of the engine broken.
This is not really that great a game. It's good, but it's a tunnel -- you really have no choices. On the other hand, trying to get the in-game achievements makes it actually challenging, because you can't just grind your way to high level with training fights.
And all of the people who are saying that something is impossible are wrong. I just went through all but the bonus levels in Heroic, no training fights, Psychological. You just have to be willing to go back from save and reset stats and try a different skill set.
Pretty fun game: could use more time to click on all your columns of troops at the start of a battle. Also could use designated targeting for your missile troops. In general, could use making the middle game much harder; once you've conquered six provinces or so, there are no other challenges until the end islands.
The end islands only require armies of samurai plus maybe 5 green giants to kill the enemy boss.
Green giant production is broken; it doesn't take 15 turns to make one, instead you get one at turn 15 and 30 no matter how long you've held the province.
I like turn-based games, but this one isn't really ready. Changing facing after movement is supposed to be possible, but didn't work for me, upgrades to armor and weapons didn't show up, etc. And I agree that the feel of the graphics is somehow claustrophobic. Work on it some more and then re-release it.
