I killed the last megaboss with full laser comp on my 3rd rebirth and farming around level 15xx. 300 talents on laser, 100 on crit %, 100 def and 146 on crit dmg, and 3 accessories (2 defense and 1 for extra laser damage, although not maxed by any means).
Great game! That said, I spotted a couple of minor bugs. In the Inventory menu, if you click a non-common item and hover on the "Synth" option, the help text says it costs "undefined" essence. And the "Desynths performed" line in the Hall of Milestones only counts desynths performed through Town > Magical Synthesizer, not Inventory > click item > Desynth.
First time I played, the first mission didn't get completed once I got to the station. It kept showing as "undefined" and prevented me from progressing further in the game, so I had to start all over the game. Quite a nice little game, relaxing and humorous while still immersive. OTOH, there are a few spelling errors that stand out (especially apostrophes), but great game nonetheless. Hope to see more!
There are a couple of bugs in the game which make you get the badges before you should. Just contacted Kongregate and the dev with the details, hope I don't get the first badge removed because of this, as it's the badge of the day. :P
I don't have any serious problems with my sight, but I can't even see the bullets they're shooting, so I just try to dash and stop periodically until I get killed by a stray bullet. Could you make the bullets more visible, like for example upping the contrast?
I can't stand the idea that anything below maximum rating is a bad rating. Instead, I follow the original idea behind 5-star rating systems, where 1 star means I hate the game, 2 stars means I don't like it, 3 stars means I feel it's OK, 4 stars means I like it and 5 stars means I really love it.
But then I also follow this rule: if a game shamelessly asks for 5 stars, I take a star away from the rating.
So my rating for this game is: 4 stars (I like it, although it's slow to load and has laggy animations) minus 1 star (for begging for 5 stars and saying that 4 stars is a bad rating), that's 3 stars total.
As for the (constructive) criticism...
It would be nice to see what each upgrade icon represents when hovering over it at the lobby, instead of having to select it and then click on "Swap" to see the list of upgrades.
Protection/regeneration times are OK for normal levels, but the survival level is too fast-paced for them to be fairly relevant. OTOH, it is possible (but VERY time-consuming) to run in circles to avoid the last soul of a level just to buy some time to regenerate. Maybe souls should speed up over time to avoid this cheat and, in exchange, regeneration speed could go up a bit.
Maybe add a couple more scenarios (1 scenario change every 3 levels in endless instead of every 5) and another enemy boss?
It's nice to see a new simple but challenging game. Limiting upgrades to 10 slots makes the hard badge... actually hard, not just time-consuming or pay-to-win. (My final build was quite different from Greg's, but it still got me the badge... after quite a few tries. PLAYER: 4x move speed, 2x health, 2x vision, 1x protection, 1x regeneration, WEAPON: 3x projectiles, 3x damage, 2x fire rate, 1x ammo capacity, 1x penetration)
Seems like server is lagging on the response and, when client and server disagree on whether you bought an upgrade, you are finally left without the upgrade and without the money. Happened to me a few times, and because of it I just lost my dual whips (3200 cash) and all my research upgrades (a couple levels on each, on average). Game is 4/5 for me (too grindy, whatever), but will be rating 2/5 until the error with transactions is solved.
There's a glitch involving Midas Touch when it changes the gems into fire gems. These gems don't combine with other fire gems by swapping or by using Create Fire. Once you finally manage to combine the gems, a fire gem will show up on the upper left part of the screen.
Islands that rebel against you should stop... er, being yours, not just stop paying taxes. That is, you should have to conquer them all over again, maybe with stronger enemies than the first time to make it a bit harder.
It doesn't make sense to have a "stupid" gene that doesn't do the opposite of the "smarter" gene. IMO it should be renamed as "short-lived" or even "crazy" or "YOLO" (as in, they do very risky stuff that makes them die more easily).
The game has lots of minor glitches and errors such as:
1) Year being always the same as the month.
2) If you fight against another kid's monster while being able to participate in a tournament, you'll fight that monster 3 times and get really high rewards.
3) It's spelled "trophy".
... and so on.
But on top of all that, the game just glitched me with only the Little Giant cup left. Now all tournaments are gone, I'm permanently in March and if I fight any monster all it's stats will be displayed as 0 and I won't be able to beat it.
The game is entertaining, but this glitch just ruined it for me. :P
No badges and no option to view highscores. Once you finish a setting, if you forgot to take a screenshot to prove it, you're screwed up.
I wasn't aiming for the easy badge only, but for the medium one. I thought the badges would be awarded once I finished that setting. Anyway, I'm not trying again. Between 2 and 3/5.
Me spell bad?! Unpossible!
