Late answer to the changes regarding display: it was better the way it was before, and reverting it would make for a much better experience at a 1366x768 monitor.
Bug: After choosing the new Wisdom portal and upgrading Tenshi Hitode 1, all the aliens with textures from lower tier aliens than the current tier were not replaced with the new texture and remain stuck on the screen, unable to be interacted with but still taking up space. They can not be removed by clicking.
Error in previous comment: the textures have been minimized _to_ about a third of what they where, not by that amount. On my screen the aliens are 1/3 size, the carrier is 1/3 size, the background is jagged and blurry.
Feedback on the resolution changes: I use a 1366x768 laptop monitor. I have no idea what changes you made, but the box for the game itself takes up the same amount of pixels on my screen. The game, however, has been "zoomed out" within that box, meaning that the aliens, the carrier, the background has all been minimized by about a third of what they were. The graphics look terrible because of this, and the aliens themselves are so small that the textures have become jarred and blurry. The distance between them has also increased, making manual play painstakingly annoying, as the aliens are only slightly longer (vertically) than my mouse cursor. I am happy to provide a screenshot if so desired.
@ Zaloran, thanks for your response. However, when I research Direct Orders before Red Skies and the following line, my AA jeep is my weakest unit by far. If I wait with researching Direct Orders until I've researched Fire in the Hole+Advanced Wars 2 and bought as many units as I can to take advantage of the additive stats before the multiplier with Direct Orders, it ends up being my strongest unit. It does not look like the multiplier effect auto-updates, as logic would suggest final RpS should be higher if the auto-update multiplier was researched before the RpS-specific 2x multipliers. From testing it looks like both Direct Orders and Missile Command are RpS-specific, which means they add a multiplier to the current RpS. I don't think this should necessarily change, I just think the green label might be confusing.
Suggestion: Make one of the aliens be slightly differently textured (extra glow effect or something) and be worth 2x / 5x / 10x more than the base ones, to add an extra element to the gameplay portion.
Edit to previous comment: I think I phrased the last question wrong. What I meant to ask was that, if these researches are multiplicative, does the effect auto-update or does it depend on the current RpS of the unit in question?
Yes, those researches are multiplicative and the effect auto-update. If it has the green label, it will grow as your RPS grow. If not, it will only grow once.
Question regarding "Direct Orders". The text says "AA Jeep RpS is multiplied by 100x rank level". If this is the RpS at the given time of researching that is being multiplied, does this mean this research should be saved for as late as possible, in direct contrast to the other unique unit-specific researches that are additive and should be researched as early as possible (before multipliers)? Same goes for "Missile Command", it's text also says "multiplies". Basically, what I am asking is: are these two researches multipliers? The text says so, but the green label makes me unsure.
Thank you for the response Zaloran. Once I fully understood exactly what each upgrade does, it became a lot easier to understand the upgrade planning path. However, I made it to rank 14 before finally understanding most of the upgrades! The descriptions weren't detailed enough for me to understand them without a lot of trial and error, so I am looking forward to the tutorial you are making. Cheers :)
The double and triple-upgrades of a particular unit are based on their current RpS. This means you should skip as many upgrades as you can and save them for until you have all the upgrades that add a static amount (like the DeJeepean, Rescue Mission, etc.). This makes the whole upgrade system very clunky and punishing. I've had a difference between 50 and 100 trillion RpS with all upgrades maxed and the same amount of units purchased (and the same rank). Basically, if you don't upgrade in the right order, you are looking at a 50% (if not more) reduced total RpS. I think this is a problem :(
Hi Sarph. Thanks for your kindly comment. We understand that in this genre it's usual that all the RPS outputs are exactly the same through every run, regardless of the order in which upgrades are purchased. In "save the earth!" you need to carefully plan the order in which you research, to maximize the profits. That's on the description, and it's intentional. We are writing a tutorial in-game that explain all these things in depth. Meanwhile, one of our players made a great video tutorial where he explains perfectly how the system works and how to maximize RPS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WetY4yp_Nm0
The sound effect when eating tacos was awesome! I liked that you didn't lose points for hitting the cactii and that the tacos didn't respawn on reset, it made the difficulty just perfect for me. :)
The AI is really stupid - they always send all theirs ships to the planet I attack first, so all you have to do is capture a neutral close to your base and all your enemies will deplete their whole armies on the shields. Then you can easily snipe them down.
Music is amazing! I loved the ending, you tricked me into shedding a tear. One of the few games I give a full 5/5 rating. Thank you for the experience.
I liked the concept, the puzzles were mostly logical (a few red herrings added to the experience) and overall I like the execution of the game. However the narrator does become somewhat annoying after a bit, and he almost feels like a cheap ripoff to GLaDOS (from Portal). 4/5
Should we go back to the old one?
