What's so interesting to me about this game is that not only does it train this poor test subject who needs these skills to survive, it also trains the player, who finds himself getting better and better and knowing what do to to survive.
Also, (sorry for double-posting), the moving spike's collision detection is bad, because it's testing for the square around the spike. I would go into its movie clip, select the image (spike), go into modify and click break apart if necessary, and delete the other space so the movie clip is only the spike.
Not bad at all! Make this into a full game, it won't be bad! A recommendation: if you lose a level, you shouldn't have the restart the whole game, just that level.
I'm sorry, but when I was 12 I made my first game, and it was a playable, fun game. This isn't even a game. I'm sorry to say, but it's a waste of space here. NEVER, EVER put a game on Kongregate if it isn't worth the time that it takes to upload it.
Peiceofcake, I see that this is your first project, and that's all well and good. I would just recommend that you finish the game first before uploading it to Kongregate. I remember when I made my first object move, it was fun too :) But I would learn more about coding and keep at it until you can make something substantial.
1/5. I can't even move the character. Isn't even your work, is terrible too. No title page, you can't move the character, it looks like you could do this in five minutes.
It's obvious that you haven't made many games or are not experience in this, but good job. You should add a title page, a reset button, maybe some music.
Not so long ago I put my first game in too... like you, heavily reliant on a group of tutorials. What I'd advise you to do is a few things to make this better and for future games: 1. Make different screens for win and lose 2. Make the ship not able to move out of the screen at all 3. Add an actual storyline, even if it is only a few words explaining what is going on at the beginning and end 4. Have a different screen backround. This one hurts my eyes, and if I saw rolling hills or the enemy land I'm invading or something I'd like it better
I'd give it a 3/5. Excellent job with this, and good luck with future games that you won't have to base so heavily on tutorials!
2/5. Sorry. Though I know what it's like to be inexperienced in flash and have to base things almost completely off tutorials, I would be ashamed to show a game to the public that I barley added anything to except put in a couple graphics. I would also be ashamed to put in a game with grammatical and spelling errors. I think that though you could make a game like this for practice, it's shameful to put it on Kongregate.
Hmm... I expected to get comments like this :( I'm only thirteen years, and this is my first game, made it a while back, my only complete one. I wanted to put it on here for some reason.. sorry for wasting your time, people.
