You only need to do the first 37 levels to get the hard badge, although I freely admit that I couldn't do level 20 without the walkthrough and should've needed level 39.
@Terastas, that's the defining aesthetic of VasantJ: the constant uncertainty about whether the main characters are supernatural or insane. It's kinda weird making the comparison, but there have been writers famous for this exact theme, the confusion of the supernatural, deception, and insanity.
Yup! I wanted the game to have the concept of dynamic value, as in END might be strong early on, but late game INT might be strong since you can achieve 0 skill CD at some point. Glad you found that, I think it's a nice present for the strategic players :)
I got really lucky while going top route with Hail to clear the ice ghosts. I got a ton of potions in a row (also Whirlwind OP) and somehow managed to rapidly speed to the boss, couldn't even tell what was going on it was so fast. I'd only cleared one 4th section before that (middle slimemancers), didn't even have luck or int unlocked.
Ended up unlocking int, luck, wind set, and armory on the same run I beat the boss. Whirlwind is such a powerful skill in general, meant I only had to face skeletons and the boss that entire run, used Snipe to trivialize fights where Whirlwind was still on cooldown. Never found out what advanced skill slots do.
Such an innovative game, and I loved the skill slot system where you need to plan each run by picking the right skills. Having to sacrifice certain stats to reach breakpoints in other stats on the fly was really fun as well. Incredible job with this game.
Thanks for the thorough feedback! I did try to make the game beatable through many means. You just happened to figure out a strong strat pretty early so there was no need to experiment :P I think you understood the vision of the game pretty well - the idea of being dynamic and changing your build on the fly to tackle the routes. I like that you managed to actually handle the reins of the horse while you were speeding through the top area. Most people get pretty overwhelmed there the first time but it looks like you sailed all the way through lol.
I just unlocked Stone Upgrades and bought crystal production a bunch of times, but it doesn't do anything? I went back and forth between upgrades and factory while buying them, and nothing's changing.
Protip: Choose only Def+1 when you level up. With enough defense and careful switching of armor, I beat the sorceror on my second run. Just a straight run from level 1 to 80.
It's when an Idle game really breaks it down to numbers, percentages, and simple mechanics that I start to wish I could just see it in terms of efficiency. If it weren't for the opportunity cost of waiting for a larger upgrade rather than buying a small one now, this game could be reduced to "click the upgrade with the highest dye rate per gold. Truly fascinating, that we've managed to find such a simple cheat button for the human mind.
The hell? Quiz mode has the same answers every time? I went to try it again and it was the same pictures and answer sets, so I got it in half the achievement time for no reason at all. This game now has no redeeming qualities, because the star patterns aren't creative or challenging to make. You just take a picture made of points and fritz them back and forth towards the camera.
@Skyla1Gaming3MZP I want to add that besides Vagabond's answer working easily, there's definitely enough time to do all of what you said. That's how I beat it before reading Vagabond's answer.
