The Adventure Quest style of animation made the movement very smooth (At least THIS isn't quite as obvious where the joints are) and as far as gameplay it's alot more fun than before mentioned game :P I like the music for battles, and I can't really see the whole Lag problem people are supposedly having. Yes, animations take time, and it's a possiblity it might be better to have an animation-off option (for people with slower PCs or for grinding) or something like that. Also, a way to advance the text quickly without completely skipping it.
My only issue is the lack of any kind of pattern to the saw-blade robots. Puzzle games are about thinking and planning ahead, not praying the robot will turn just a specific way so you can run away. The only "pattern" I see is sometimes they seem to turn towards you, but only when they feel like it. They randomly turn when not connected to a wall, so they don't follow the wall... They don't always follow YOU, so I don't know what kind of movement they use. It's a pain to have to guess and hope they'll behave.
Necromancer + Warrior tank = Epic.
With My charactor summoning Demon for Elemental Magic, and using debuff/DoT, and Rogan Stunning the *bleep* out of mobs, we mowed through things quickly. Especially after the Demon got Inferno and Rogan got Slam. And then Slam + Summon on 1st turn, and Attack + Attack + Earthquake on next was awesome :P
I liked the game :D
I have to say that Original mode is much more annoying than Impossible. Seriously, Original is one the verge of making me pull my hair out, but I beat Impossible with less trouble.
I was interested when I saw the "use MP3" option, so I uploaded The Black Mages: J-E-N-O-V-A... And I regreted it >.> I can only imagine how bad something like death metal would be on this XD
Finally beat it (On Normal. I tried playing Epic but after the 10 Medal secret monster killed me about 4 times I gave up. XD). Wow, I like Akron's design (Reminds me of Anima tbh, but at least his "underside" isn't upside down), the intro for him was simple yet awesome, and the music really got me pumped to kill him. The ending was a little lackluster, but I suppose I can forgive that :P Great RPG, I would probably pay for a console game of this series (Improved and lengthened, of course)
@ilk1986 Actually yes, it does matter what kind of game it is. First off, like you said, it's all a numbers game. For example, you say your Eva buffs were up, but even then, if the opponent's Acc base is still higher, the chance of evading isn't very good. Also, were your buffs maxed? Because buffs in this game stack, in case you didn't know. (Up to a certian %, which atm I haven't bothered to find out the max, but I think it's 70%, could be wrong). And another thing to consider is if you're a high enough level. What would be good enough for Normal may be 5-10 levels shy of what you need for Epic. Want more proof? All I have to say is this. Try to beat Nemesis in FFX WITHOUT Overkill. FFX was a great game, gameplay-wise anyway, and Nemesis is clearly harder than any other FF (Or RPG in general that I've played) enemy. Sure, it's an optional fight, but my point still stands.
@ilk1986 I don't like to get in the middle of things, but the fact that you brought up a hack-slash game and compared it to an rpg makes you fail horridly. RPGs ARE luck-based with it comes down to it, ever try completing Solo Charactor Challenges in older RPGs? That's what makes them challenging, the luck-aspect. Espcially final bosses, you can be as prepared as you want to be, and still get your butt kicked. That's the best part for true RPG fans. And again, mentioning a Hack-slash when rating a RPG... Yeah.
Ahh... I love being able to purely upgrade one stat and still win.
Full Magic was fun, Simply equip as much Magic+ as you can, and ignore anything that does Agi- (You want your movement speed), once you get meteor, spam it for exp, and get up enough levels to use Meteor spam on the final boss, hitting him to knock him back between meteors so he gets the full damage as much as possible.
Full Attack is two words. Belly. Thrust. The added range of that combo attack is your life and blood. Use the highest attack weapon you can get (though I used Dagger instead of the axe for movement) Also, getting some Magic stats through equip for Regenerate wouldn't hurt. Agi gear for the final battle is fun too.
Only 2 I've done atm. XD
(Sorry for the double post, but I couldn't put everything I needed to say in one comment. >.>)
Story aside, I have to say that I phased through walls like no man's business with max Engine mods in the last Ice level, so maybe the walls should be thicker in "puzzle" zones like that. Also recommend a way of perhaps "resetting" your bonus stat points so you can redo your character if you feel you messed up. And less randomness on the Weapon Upgrade system, or perhaps it's the fact it's random that's fun? Not sure anymore lol. I will say that the levels themselves were the only put off. The push to play the same bosses over and over, along with facing the exact same waves of enemies back to back seemed a little lazy, ALTHOUGH I'll admit two things. One, I thought it was hilarious that it was mentioned WHY the last zone had the same enemies. XD Two, the immersive story had to be an overload.
Amazing Job overall. Well done!
Dear lord I loved the story (Played normal mode). I couldn't drag myself away, I played from 8 PM to 1 AM just to see what happened next. You always left information out, but giving JUST enough to keep the reader/player interested. I won't spoil things, but I have to say that I need to replay it so I can get this "secret" ending, cause to be honest, I didn't really like the entire ending on normal mode D: So wrong... Then again, stories like this usually don't end in a completely happy ending, and that's what makes them amazing.
