Pleasant, well designed game with good balance, although more comfortable than challenging.
Mini-game difficulty is cleverly adapted in terms of difficulty/progress.
The house building thing is a nice idea but with the way prices and earnings scale up there's little to think about and your choices don't really matter anyway.
Some conflicting aspects of the combat design. Dodging is 100% more efficient to improve than blocking, until you reach the cap near the end of game. It's a shame that these skills were so similar without having any trade-offs to think about.
Ranged damage is superior to melee at first, but later upgrading melee is 100% more efficient so you'd pretty much wish you could abandon your ranged weapon.
These are minor issues that can be easily tweaked, but the combat mechanics could have been more dynamic or stylistic overall. That said, simple combat is still ideal, and the current design does that.
Unfortunately I didn't find all the lost children.
I think this criticism is worth mentioning:
I find the rendering a bit bumpy; the discontinuity is noticeable and it makes weaker specimen like myself go dizzy and have headaches.
It's a nice game. I would have liked more levels and more variety (choices, weapons, extreme maps or opponents).
Perhaps 'select all' or 'deselect' hotkeys would have been appropriate.
Too easy; I played hard only and finished in half an hour. The AI does pretty idle moves and has no sense of piece value. It was only a matter of shuffling the weak pieces to the front and trading.
Pressing pause many times or holding it down during the cash won display multiplies the cash you won. I think that's the only way to beat England in 8 days.
Beware if you press too many times (more than 20) you might get BSOD (probably a memory leak).

Ignore for a moment the validity (or lack of) of this particular download, but brothersoft.com is NOT a trusted site. Brothersoft does not moderate what gets put on it, so there are plenty of trojans, viruses and other badies on the site. Thanks for your clever review. I hope most issues you mentioned will be fixed in the sequel!
