I haven't tried to get any holiday characters yet because I don't know if it's possible to switch between the holiday characters and the normal ones; it's not explain in the game anywhere as far as I've been able to find.
Once you unlock an event Crusader, the tutorial wizard tells you about the Swap button which shows up on the Crusader they swap with. You can change between all the Crusaders on a seat at any time.
I haven't been on the game in a few months, and even though I opened it on the same laptop and such, I lost ALL my progress and have to completely start over!!
I still don't get how the money and honor work in the top left, because it'll say I have amount X but to upgrade something 10 times, I need amount Y. And amount X on the top left is much higher than amount Y.
I used to be able to use my command key, on my mac, instead of control, but now it doesn't work. I can't buy 50 of anything using my control key, only my command key, and now I can't do that. I have to do packs of 10 with shift.
I originally only joined this game because of the two easy badges for it, but then I met some cool people, and now I am hooked on it! I'm a part of a decently-sized Syndicate family, and am excited to see what other things this game has in store!

That was a very temporary bug with the release which was resolved if you refreshed the game. :)
