Surely, its possible, even with the bad collision detection. You just have to learn to abuse the bad detection. Heres a hint: draw directly below your character then up in a straight line to change your respawn spot. You are invincible even when you get hit!

For all those people who have "trouble" getting through that bug. I found a way around it. Basically. Kill only the red overlord first. Then round every other bots to be in the same area you are. Kill them. You should beat the level with around 15 kills. ^_^
