Great game, I can see from comments that the dev FEROCITER has put in time after the initial publication to make changes and all appear to benefit the game. Congratz! I would like to see the rock at the top be a sprite that stood out more but other than that I just want to see more. A great concept and even better execution.
Very much enjoyed this game, even though I mainly typed A,E,I,O,U,Y at first to get a better clue and just re-entered each "room" afterwards. The art style and animations were crisp, and it was always satisfying to solve each word puzzle. I could see another game made with levels containing multiple images that have themes to give a clue as to what the images could be prior to entering the level. A level named "Fall" for instance could contain images of autumn, as well as rain or something that falls. Great little game and I can see a series developing now that you have a template to improve upon. In answer to the last puzzle, You're Welcome.
That means a lot truly! I'm so happy people are actually finishing my game! I'm definitely excited to start a new game from scratch, but hey I'll keep sequels in mind cuz ive got the code after all ;)
Game loaded for me, I played it for a minute, died, game over screen provides no further instructions after that. Just an endless music loop with the "GAME OVER!". Only way to start the game again was to refresh the page. Please fix. Providing some instructions on how to play before just sending you into combat would help as well. The graphics and gameplay itself seemed promising. 2/5 for now.
This is Enter the Gungeon Human Resource's lawyers. We are issuing a cease and desist order re: this game. JK! As a fan of that game I fully endorse a fleshing out of this game into a complete one. Hope you are able to follow through as this looks promising. Enjoyed the graphics, sprites, music and different power ups. On the downside, the movement was a little choppy (could be my computer or chrome) and the screen shake when shot speed was maxed made it hard to follow where my character was moving and where the enemies and their bullets were coming from. Keep at it!
Really nice game and with the hints on some of the later levels I was able to beat it, so I "sorta" won. This should do well with mobile puzzle seekers. My only disappointment was, after waiting all that time, that the box did not contain a severed head as a reference to the movie "Seven" but I will let is slide as I understand that just might be a little upsetting ;)
Damn it! I did it! Finally got 9k. Took about 4 tries but the good ol' circling around eventually got me there. Good game and good balancing. The enemies got progressively harder and you used a unique method of shooting the center target to "level up" the enemies and provide a metric for a second upgrade variable in upgrading our (ship? blob?) through the use of a "score". The upgrade menu was a nicely thought out interactive experience.
The bosses though were an easier challenge that the 9k one and getting close to 9k is really just the good old arena shooter spam shots and try to dodge thousands of bullets in part by manipulating their shots to miss you. That trope for arena shooters has been around for awhile and is tiring because you really just want to hit the middle of the screen to get more "score".
All in all a good game with some flaws typical of the genre.
As to the easiness, yes it is too easy. The strategy is the same no matter how many boxes. However - I would be interested in a multiplayer mode as fireup3399 mentioned. It would actually be interesting to track how many times the person that went first won :)
Fantastic game, I can't say enough. No tutorial needed, in fact no explanation of any kind was really needed for any of the controls and it was addictive as hell. I managed to finish it and never felt it was unfair or that I got stuck, there was always a solution.
In my opinion this is much better than the "press 'r' for restart level, as I always have thought that system was lazy, forcing replay and level memorization over thoughtful puzzles where you know there is always a way, you just have to figure it out.
I hope you continue the excellence into the full version.
hey, thanks for great comment :) It took me a while to design the levels the way you can't get stuck. ever :)
there's a full game version here: http://hamsteroncoke.com/zenge/ hope you'll like it!
Well, that was an hour well spent. Thank you KAJENX. You added a little nostalgia to my birthday today. It was wonderful to play something both new and somehow also old.
Agree with Rarykos, Kong is perhaps not the best forum for this type of introspective, interactive art piece. One could interpret the slow pace of the game to reflect the dark atmosphere, music, and seriousness of the actions of the main character. It is designed to make you think not an "Ooh, look at all the pretty colors" type of game.
A wonderful little game. A great blend of sentimentality, humor, wistfulness and storytelling. Managing to get basement cat into the mix was an added bonus.
meh... A+ for presentation. B for ease of use and learning curve. B for story in single player mode. C- for game play. D for originality. Jury seems out on the pace of play as there is no lag for me but others have had issues. Weighing the overall grade heavily dependent (as in any game) on game play this, so far, gets a C from me. Not the worst, but disappointing considering the potential.
