The sound, especially the sword slashes, is really buggy, and it plays a tad slow... I'm just beginning though, so I'll expect it'll pick up.
Fairly minor problems in a quite well done game!
Scratch that... the accuracy rating seems to be kinda broken after a few replays. Mine kept dropping, though most shots were killing at least two shapes. It went into the negatives by level 4, which is impossible... then at level 8 it was -10000%. Level 9 it went up over 500%. WTF? Oh well, still a great game. I stand by my rating.
And Mildaene, you can die in the early stages from running out of ammo. That's the main threat of the game I think, running out of ammo, not getting hit.
Yawn... I was going for an easy thirty points and got cheaped out after twenty minutes of monotany... once you get enough turrets up it's just a waiting game, unless you get unlucky with a fire attack and die in one shot like me. Not worth playing again, blah.
Awesome game. I think it's better without the map... it'd be too easy with one since the main challenge of the game is exploring. Draw your own map if it's that important. Eh... still got three more red herbs to find, but I'm tapped for now.
An improvement on Defender, for sure! The elemental symbols are easier to recognise, the rules are a -lot- clearer, and there's more stage variety. Still the same game, but definitly a good update!
You people whine too much. Shut up. This game is better than Desktop Defence, but not on the top.
Pat yourself on the back, you naughty, naughty people.
This is good for when you want to chat - best I've seen for that actually - but I wouldn't call it a game. It's more of a number acquisition system to rate how much of a geek you are.
...hurray, I beat three levels while typing this...!?
Easily three times as suppish as the first game. The solutions are logical for the most part, but I'll admit a had to use the TAB trick a couple times to weigh out my options or find a tiny item. As always, it's fun to screw up a couple times for a laugh, as well as go up the ladder three or four times. Who knew Johnny was actually MegaMan!?
Pretty solid RPG for flash. The only thing keeping you from a perfect rating is the lack of party members. I'm eagerly awaiting to see how that turns out in chapter three.
I'd say your experiment was a success. Not so great as a game, but definitly a beautiful work of art.
The big killer is like Abelard said: no replay value. I had to do it again to get the badge and noticed a couple of the differences had changed (which is probably random) but there wasn't enough variation to make it worth playing a third time (or even a second, if not for the badge).
On the plus side the lack of variation allows people to ask for help if they're stumped.
It's got a similar concept to Boomshine, but I don't know about it being the 'poor man's' version. I like this one better, it's a lot more engaging. Boomshine is more thoughtful, but those last couple levels can get pretty frustrating.
Also, wh00t on me! #9 highscore of all time!
