Not bad, but not great. As so many others say, either upgrades are too expensive or loot is insufficiently shiny. Also, the Kraken is a lousy boss. The controls for this game are simply not suited for this kind of shoot-em-up boss. Overall, the controls in general leave a lot to be desired; you simply can't move or maneuver fast enough to avoid enemy fire, so you have to rely on tanking with armor.
@GazeAngel: I tried to deal with the lower part of level 5 via overwhelming force (full row of launchers, plus full row of blasters), but realized that the intended solution was probably the repulsors introduced on that level. Not sure if that's the case, because I finally punched through by brute force just before I could try it.
This series is always fun, and the level design seems better than before. A recurring annoyance, though, is that I will often finish off the baddies before getting all the stars, resulting in a silver medal since the game declares victory before I can get the stars.
So, having none of a service (say, internet) in a good hotel results in a +1 rating, but having an insufficiently positive amount results in a -3 rating? The sad thing is that people are actually like that in reality.
I very much liked the last one, but this one was even better. On the surface, it's the same basic gameplay as last time, but with plenty of improvements. What secured the 5th star for me was the suicide cult plotline, it was so effectively written that I could almost sympathize with them.
A neat concept, but very flawed execution. Upgrade costs are too expensive; since the player has little control in-level, this simply leads to more grinding. And of course, the AI is very problematic. Much has been said of the pathfinding (or lack thereof), but I think the real problem is that once a penguin fixates on an enemy, it will chase that turtle to the exclusion of all else. If the penguins could re-evaluate targeting to, say, chase a turtle that is closer, then the pathfinding would be less of an issue. Overall, I have to give this game a 2/5, for being a neat premise but lacking a lot of polish.
Primary complaint: when one of the demons has a toy, it gets really hard to tell where the toy is, it gets lost in the crowd. Other than that, fun as always, though slightly sub-standard relative to your usual quality.
For some reason, it took forfrickingever to finish off the last person. She was on the third story, I got her to screaming blind terror at least 3 times, but she just ran around refusing to either jump or run down the stairs. Eventually, I finally cornered her in the bedroom on the left and she jumped. Overall, I'm not overly impressed by this game. 3/5.
This gets a resounding "ehhhhh". Not bad in any major way, but completely fails to engage me. The level curve is annoyingly slow, and the game feels schizophrenic, not knowing whether to be a tower defense or a top-down shooter. Overall, an at-best mediocre game.
The Prussian achievements seem kind of pointless. Building 1000 Grenadiers lets you instakill with grenades? Great, except that that pretty much happens anyway. I got the 500 instakill achievement about 15 waves into my first-ever Prussian level.
