Odd. If you max out the ballista but don't have enough money for the first cannon star, it'll actually still equip a cannon, but shoot you only 1m far. If you have no rocket upgrade or a loaded dice, it's game over. The game feels indeed dated, but the 1 star people need to grow up. Still a solid launcher, even if with issues.
The dialogues seem a bit cheesy and could use an overhaul, but the game itself was superbly entertaining. The last stage was a bit of a challenge, I found that leaving the zombie summoning totem intact seems to block the boss from spamming other skills, and actually makes the stage easier. Anyway, fully upgraded it shouldn't be more than a few tries. I hope I'll find all special items to unlock all achievements, and that I'd see some badges soon.
Seeing the possible variations, I was envisaging a HUGE level with all the knots, locks, entangled tracks with all the moving and rotating elements (maybe timedly rotating switches too) in it, where you'd need timed and reaction-critical moves and a global understanding of the pattern. Maybe for a future medium badge? ;D
Seeing the names behind the title I got excited. Sadly the game is a bit of a letdown. The puzzle's have no variation, and they are mostly a copy-pasta from some. Finding keys is pixel hunting. While it is again fun, and has a great atmosphere not unlike the Submachine titles, seasoned gamers will find the gameplay a bit dull.
Every ship out there is way more powerful than me. I get rammed in every fight losing all trading goods and dying. My upgrades don't seem to do a thing. :(
I find it totally frustrating how my purchased recruits chaotically change places. Even with the same sort of filtering recruits jump about in the list sometimes president being on the first pages, sometimes in the middle. I have already lost track of their value, and I keep overranking them losing precious revenue. apart from that it was worth the try. :)
3 hands are needed for this game.
Could you consider implementing a screen drag system with the mouse instead of WASD? either a bump mouse to edges or maybe a click and drag? Shooting could then start with dragging from the character. ;)
Thanks for the suggestion, there are now multiple weapon types that can be upgraded via stars!
