I am disappointed that Tesla's Earthquake Machine wasn't included in this game. Unlike the death ray, there's evidence that Tesla actually did complete a working version of that machine. Either that, or an earthquake conveniently hit while he was testing it...
Things I have learned from this game: Lava is a virus. It absorbs water to increase its own mass while also producing steam, which will then condense into water and cause the lava to breed infinitely. Also, a pocket of water can be kept save inside a sea of lava as long as it's kept seperate by a wall of steam. (To reproduce the effect, there needs to be a set of blocks above and below it.)
To find the rarest monsters: Take a flying creature (I recommend Birdman Tribe Leader) and look for stages where to your immediate right there is either a series of stone pillars, or a long and narrow drop through a cave. In the pillar stage, hop across or fly to the upper-right of the stage, where you'll fight enemies that can potentially be the final boss (also, there's a semi-rare elemental in the bottom-left). The the cave with the drop, go immediately right after dropping, then fly up into a little room. A rare and bizarre enemy will be there. If it's empty, attack the room anyway, because it might be The Invisible Man.
As much as the unlockable HQ mode is a brilliant piece of satire, it's also incredibly annoying, and I'd like to be able to turn it off without hitting the Refresh button on my browser.
I triggered a bug by trying to pause it when the upgrade screen came up (since it didn't pause automatically), and the result was that the scan mode UI was stuck on the screen and I could click on anything except to shoot at the enemies. That meant no turrets, among other things. I still got an S Rank on the stage... And then I couldn't click the "OK" button and had to refresh.
So let me get this straight... This car can't make it more than five miles on a full tank of gas with all upgrades, food and gas are free, and it gets progressively darker even though a day passes every time you stop? Oh, also this trucker has rockets, and the police apparently don't bother arresting him no matter how many people he's murdered even when he stops for the day. Or just when he stops for gas. While on fire.
Yup. This game's realistic.
You should really be able to choose which floor to go to when you beat the game, so you can see anything that you missed without having to sit through the whole thing again. Especially since there are multiple endings, but nothing new and exciting for you to do while getting to the bottom.
I thought I recognized that music from somewhere. That's the default RTP from RPGMaker... 2000, was it? 2003? Still better than most RPGMaker games themselves, which tend to "borrow" mismatched songs from 12 different games and their favorite power metal band.
Oh, and by the way, the upgrade prices act wierd. They're cheap when you first buy a weapon, but when you leave the upgrade screen and come back, their prices go way up.
Could you maybe reduce the number of required medals for the final secret area to 58, at least? Since it seems that it's possible to access it even on an Easy, Normal, or Hard file, and yet you need to clear Epic to access it... Well, you can see how that's a little illogical. Plus, unless you're playing through Epic on your first playthrough, you'd have to spent HOURS replaying through a game you've already beaten just to reach some slightly new content. It should be possible to access the secret area by only playing through the game once, even if it requires a 100% playthrough. You'd still need to play the game on Epic to enter the area on Epic.
