I'm not sure I understand the point of this game. Playing badly (missing) makes the game EASIER by adding a bunch more bubbles of the same color around ones that are already there, and in fact as far as I can tell winds up giving you more points since the completely uninspired scoring is simply 10 * bubbles removed.
Finally quitting with 9 mins left, 133,110 points, 16 bombs, and 10 pick-axes.
It's ok, but fairly buggy. The biggest bug I notice is that when stuff falls after making matches or bombing other things or whatever, lines only count in ONE direction. For example, if pieces align in a T, only the horizontal or vertical part of the T will disappear, not both as should happen. (Oddly, this works correctly when you form a T by switching pieces.)
There's some interesting stuff here, but frankly the scoring system is completely uninspired too, it's just ultimately not that interesting to play. 10*3 for a 3-way, 15*4 for a 4-way, 20*5 for a 5-way and that's it. Nothing special for Ls or Ts, and nothing special for chains. Both of these are basic tenents of bejeweled clones and are missing here. It's certainly pretty, but I only judge gameplay not graphics when I rate games. So, 2/5 right now, maybe 3/5 if some bugs are fixed and scoring was more interesting.
Here are my experiences: Beat the card first try, no problem. Beat the hard badge first try, no problem. In fact I didn't even lose any health except when I typed all the letters for a blinder guy, he stayed alive, blinded me, and some guys got through. Disgusted, I stopped immediately after hitting 100K.
Tried several times to play the story mode to get the medium badge, I have no idea what's going on with the stage 5 boss. I can play the game perfectly then just immediately die. I would go so far as to call this one of the most horrible game designs I've ever seen (play perfectly then instant death on one mistake at the end).
@supercancer: personally I think protector is better; they are very similar in many ways, though. maps and enemies are a bit more varied, and requires a bit more strategy with the weaknesses and strengths. Oh and for the record I hate DTD and do not understand the love it gets.
@sexyelephant: I'll try that, I thought I'd been pretty good at keeping people on-field but perhaps I'll try again. I'd bet pretty mad money that I've gotten 125 in a row before though.
Does anyone have any clue what denotes "in-a-row"? I just did a level where I didn't touch anything after near the start; I had to have gotten over 200 if not 250. It's the only amulet I don't have and am just not sure what breaks the chain.
I'm assuming this is basically an update; I remember a version quite awhile ago (not ncessarily on Kong) that had much simpler graphics. Exact same gameplay though.
Sweet sweet score multipliers. After getting to level 5 or so the 2nd time (it wraps after 15 I think it is), I got a red powerup that shrunk my size either to zero or to a pixel that I couldn't see. I'm not even sure how my game ended because I wasn't looking, but it sure seemed like I couldn't collect/run into anything.
But more I'm posting just to say my score is in fact legit getting all the x2s and x5s.
Wow. After 14 straight cards since join, I have no desire to go after this one. Of all the overall 3-star+ games I've played so far, this one is pretty far and away the worst.
