Just to follow up my last comment, with 2x Graze and 2x Shield on, beginning with 3 lives, I beat the second to last level with 6 lives, without moving at all.
I've decided that the energy shields are pretty much the most OP thing in the game. They allow you to absorb multiple hits per life, which makes it a lot easier to graze with 2x Graze and 2x Shield activated. By the time you do lose a life (by taking unnecessary risks, the rest of the challenge is pretty much gone), you've already gained two more. I would recommend resetting, or even applying a penalty, to the graze bar upon losing a life. In this way it wouldn't be so easy to farm lives with such little care for whether or not you take a hit.
Amazing game, definitely one of the best of the genre! I do agree with the sentiment that units should not march all the way to the end of the screen; they should stop when the maximum range of their attack reaches the end of the screen. In this way ranged and melee units to not bunch together, which can make a level difficult to win when you're doing *too* well.
Marathon was by far the best part of the game. I'd love to see bonus content added to this.. something like "Super Ridiculous Marathon Mode: Reach first place as soon as possible, beginning at position 9,999." There's just something immensely enjoyable about timing jumps just right to hit a power up and pass 5-10 people at once :)
Hotkeys for selling and upgrading a selected tower would be nice as well :) One of the most difficult things about the game is rushing through a multitude of clicks to rapidly sell and rebuild towers in the later levels. It's more of a stress test at that point than it is strategy.
So uh... what are the controls? Might just be my browser (Chrome) but none of the keys respond, except for 'R' to restart. Or at least I assume it restarts, kind of difficult to tell when there's no change in the game state and the only indication is a flash and fade effect :P
Definitely has potential to satisfy both hardcore and casual platform fans with future installments. As a hardcore gamer I could appreciate the game, but the level design left me wanting until the last few levels. Hope you do consider a sequel, and if so step up the challenge a little bit. One idea could be colorless blocks that cannot be removed except via spikes (ie, moving blocks) and multicolor blocks that can be removed of any two or even three colors. Just food for thought, that could lend to more dynamic and challenging level design :)
I'm not particularly fond of physics games, but play them from time to time anyways. All too often do physics games have seemingly random consequences and/or involve far too much timing skill (over planning and strategy). Having said that, this game does everything right, that I would otherwise typically dislike! Showing the pathing, the fact that the ball always responds in a predictable manner.. everything is very smooth and well polished! I give thee a rarely assigned, but well deserved 5/5!
I haven't even played yet, but I wanted to comment before my thoughts became lost in opinions about the game play. I have to say, that was one of the BEST introductions I've seen to a flash game. Ever. And that's mostly because of the excellent voicing quality, something most flash games tend to lack. Cheers!
Excellent platform game with a very enjoyable challenge -- not too hard that you want to ragequit, not too easy that more hardcore players can't enjoy it. I really enjoyed the timing aspect in turning your character to stone, it allowed more freedom of movement, as opposed to similar games where the character would turn upon death (less challenge). An honest 4.5/5.
I've sent you (LongAnimals) a private message regarding a bug in the steering controls, including my findings after doing a bit of experimentation. Cheers!
I'm so confused... so many mixed messages... evil girlfriend is good.. so good must mean bad. Makes sense, since pizza is bad, must mean it is good. But whiskey is also good, and vomit is also bad.. so wait.. I.. I just don't know what to think >.>
Got it. Unfortunately it's just PC keyboards. This is why we offer 3 different keys to use.
