I really enjoyed the simplicity of the graphics and smooth gameplay. I think this may have potential, but you need to bring it up a notch. First, what is your setting? Why is the character there? Is he searching for someone or something? If so, establish who or what it is and how many of them there are (in other words, develop a storyline). Next, create your setting carefully. You don’t want to be copying other developers’ ideas too much, or it will be obvious. Try to match your setting with the mood or emotions you are trying to evoke from the player (again, this goes back to the storyline – something that can make or break a game. If you’re out of ideas for a storyline, I suggest you read some books or ask your friends what they would think interesting). Checker-tiled floor and a Super Mario background? These two visuals are confusing and don’t go well together at all. Be original; play some more games and be sure to note which backgrounds worked well and which ones didn’t, look at some art, experiment with colors and texture. I also feel black rectangles have been used in far too many games for them to be original anymore. Think about what you want your character to look like. You may want them to look pixelated or blurred so that their appearance and/or gender are indistinguishable so that the player focuses on the character’s personality or emotions instead, but that is entirely up to you. Oh and I’m sorry you had to read all this, I just thought you’d like some feedback since it’s your first game. Peace out! show less
