Why is it cheaper and less time consuming to farm or mile or whatever. Part of the point of leveling the structures is to reduce amount of time it takes to produce and cost less. You have it going in the opposite direction.

Leveling up buildings provide a flat 1% bonus production each upgrade. However, choosing a more advanced item to produce/mine/grow does end up with slightly less resources than you would have received for basic items. This is so that users that log in frequently will benefit from increased production if they choose to do that. Otherwise, you can simply go with 12 hours production and relax like many players do. Also, most players tend to go with the 12 hours before going to bed.
