This takes the game "AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! - A Reckless Disregard for Gravity" and adds horizontal parts to the level. A nice addition but the original is still in a league of its own.
Nice game. Reminds me a bit of the great classic 'Z'. Flamethrower is way overpowered at 15 DPS, compared to the other weapons' DPS: 0.75, 0.75, 1.25, 1.11, 1.5, 0.8, 1.68. It's the first thing I got and it made the game too easy. It should cost the most prestige and add a lot to the tank cost.
I found three differences in the Pirate Race level that weren't clickable! Which after several attempts at each obliterated the remaining time I had.... causing me to lose. Talk about frustrating.

Sorry GameReclaim, I can't perceive any difference. It's still in the wrong person view (3rd), doesn't matter how much you tweak it. Again, the simple solution would be to add an option to hide the ship. That way it would be much easier to "Don't mind the spaceship, just watch the crosshair." Of course, you could work on it a bit more and switch to a first person view, a la Descent (http://soucali.com/pspnews/modules/mydownloads/images/shots/DescentPSP4.png), or maybe something a little more subtle. This could also be optional.
Great concept and visuals, but there are two main problems with this game that make it extremely difficult for anyone who has played a 3D game or has any sense of spatial orientation:
1. The altitude difference between the spaceship location and actual position (crosshair). It’s really confusing and disrupting.
2. The depth difference (z axis) between the spaceship and the actual position (crosshair). The space ship is at, let say, 5 meters depth, the crosshair is at 0, so that stars and obstacles that seem to have passed by the spaceship are actually still in front of it. It makes quickly maneuvering between narrow and complex environments difficult and missing stars that you could swear you've collected frustrating.
These two problems have a common root - this is a first person game with a misleading third person display. You actual position is always the center of the screen at a zero depth (as in first person), and NOT as depicted by the ship, which is at a varying position and at a certain depth (as in third person). There are two ways to solve this issue:
The easy way: have an option to not display the ship. Problems solved - no misleading, perspective distorting annoyances. Not the preferred way since you would be taking some of the game's feel and appeal out, but it's better than nothing (especially if it's optional and default to showing the ship).
The hard way: change the viewport to first person. You can make it so that you're looking from the front window of the spaceship. Things can stick out such as the ships nose and wings, but now your apparent position matches your actual position.
Right now, the idea's great, the music's groovy, and the graphics are sweet, but it's unplayable for me. It's so frustrating - it's in opposition of every instinct, intuition and spatial visual comprehension that I have acquired during my entire life. It's just wrong.
In contrast, take a game like The Missile Game 3D HS, same style but ever so intuitive. It took me only a few seconds to get used to it. It simply does the viewport perspective right. It's a first person game with a first person view - it only shows you the actual missile when you crash, otherwise creating a third person game in flash would be terribly complex (since it's not a true 3D platform). I can play The Missile Game in much higher speed without crashing, but I can't play AstroFlyer for more than a couple of levels before crashing unexpectedly. Yes, you can get used to it, but it should be intuitive from the very first second like The Missile Game.
I really hope to see this game improved in the perspective department, and also in other things that people have mentioned, such as powerups, etc, as it has great potential.
Pretty good for a monochrome game...
But no save function means this is the first and last time I play, cause I sure ain't gonna start from scratch again!
