It's not a bad game. I did enjoy playing it... but probably won't play it again. The level difficulty is not in anyway linear... I also found it quite strange that you develop several gameplay mechanics throughout the game, and then towards the end just....scrap them all and use different mechanics?
I would have preferred this game if towards the end, you built levels that used all of the pre-existing mechanics.. drawing rather than rope, using the numbers mechanic and gate unlock mechanic... it feels like maybe the end levels were very rushed.
I like the game, and the mechanics of it, but I dislike the acidy cyan and pink. It hurts my eyes! I think it makes it hard to play the game, I'd prefer a slightly different colour scheme.
Hey I don't know if it is an error, but i feel like it is, in that. Sometimes I have bad guys on flammable material, and i want to shoot fire mushrooms so that they get burnt, but it wont let me target the fire mushrooms, and my guy just walks towards them.
I finally beat it. Mostly because of luck though (i got two rings of health and a greater staff of storms, and my first side quest was the sewers). The game plays VERY differently if you are lucky enough to get a side quest before the first major difficulty spike. My 18th try I got one at level 9 (i think) and then i also got a second side quest - allowing me to stock up hugely on treasure to trade for skills. I feel that the game experience is far more dependant on the RNG than on character build style, and this is frustrating for me. I really enjoyed the side quest element though.
Some other rouge-likes I have played have allowed you to save a single item for the next run through, in case you die. I feel like something like that could work for this game, have a randomly spawning chest that you can drop an item into to keep it safe for the next game, so that if you die the next character you create can go find the chest and get the item. :)
I really like it, i don't think it is as difficult as people say. But the boarder problem is frustrating. I also find it difficult to tell when the orange lazer shooting triangle guys have become edible. Their normal colour is quite similar.
Hey nice game, definitely going to return to it when i feel less tired. It would be nice to be able to toggle between the black and white version and a full colour version. :) I know minimalism is part of the vibe but this way you can toggle between them both.
I have a glitch where I have the 'pushing manual' but the game doesn't seem to think i have it and wont let me move anything. So i am stuck unable to get any farther than the mausoleum. :(
The game is alright - rating 3/5 stars. I like the idea, I like the characters. But i feel it is kinda grindy (as others have said) and that really the battle will be won by whoever starts it with higher health. There isn't much in the way of skill involved, and the choices we get to make - abilities and the balance of our army, have a relatively minor effect on gameplay, graphics also leave a fair bit to be desired, I feel like it wouldn't take much to have made the aesthetic more varied and engaging. It's not a 'bad' game, but it's a fair way off of being a good one.
