It's kind of sad when you beat the level. You're sprawling network of reactors, collectors, and guns shuts down and it left to burn. It's often more satisfying for me when I get to the point at which I am beyond loss, rather than the point at which I actually win.
I see the experience system is still Dwarf Fortress style. This reminds me of the Dwarf Fortress, Recettear, and other references in Arkandian Crusade. :)
Slight correction and expansion on my earlier comment, splash is possible in space, but only in the form of projected materials (shrapnel, etc.). The pressure waves and such cannot travel on their own, but the shattered bits of spacecraft can carry their explosive energy and impart it to whatever they hit. Since there is no air resistance in space, the bits and pieces would not slow down, meaning that distance should not affect the effectiveness of the projectiles, other than giving them time to spread out, thereby reducing your chances of actually getting hit.
Excuse me for being a nerd, but there should be no splash damage in space, other than the transfer of energy between objects that are in contact. Heat and shockwaves require a medium to travel through, and cannot spread through a vacuum (that's why in space, no one can hear you scream). This should, theoretically, mean that all the energy that would have been imparted to the surroundings if there was an atmosphere will now be directed at the central target, making it take more than the total damage otherwise, since no energy will be lost to the air.
Most of the rules for each level are pretty obvious. I would have liked it a little more vague and puzzle-like, but that's just me. Also, there is a very sharp increase in difficulty, starting at around level 21... :P
I played the nyan cat song (mp3 name: Nyan Cat [original]), and it was terrifying. Afterwards, the top line of cash, combo, and date in the stats screen were all replaced with "Nyan Cat" whereas the stats on the second to top line were replaced with "[original]". weird glitch.
Spikes solve the toughest problems. "Death solves all problems. No man, no problem" -Winston Churchill. However, spikes also cause some of the toughest problems.
Love the game. I haven't had any of the problems with wall jumping, lag, etc. that people are mentioning, but I do believe the game is too short. 4/5 overall.
