johnsteel: The eyebeams are easy to avoid once you figure out how to do it. When it flies over to the other side of the screen, run over there and get behind the head and star hitting it. That's a great time for levelling up combos.
More comments: speed feels counterintuitive (it feels like a lower speed should lead to a faster attack, since that number feels like how long an attack should take.) Obviously, this is the reverse of what's actually true.
Heh, just managed to get the impossible badge with a 3:00 exactly clear, no cheats, no tricks. It is possible folks, just keep practicing.
Good game Moonkey.
I enjoyed this game a decent amount even if it did get frustrating. The final boss was cool.
I split upgrades mostly evenly between shot and shields, with a touch of ethers spent on speed (my final stats were like 14/98/100). That plus some careful dodging/shooting got me through the game
I'd suggest adding something that allows the API to keep track of how few continues a player uses; that seems like a good additional challenge.
The main problem is that the boss fights (or at least the first boss fight) don't really go with the idea of the game. I expect to be rewarded for pushing the keys fast and building up combos. For the bosses I have to stop moving (to avoid taking hits) and break up my combo.
The basic concept and execution of the game is quite good. That said, the plot in story mode was horrible, except for the ending (and yes, I realize that the plot was delibarately cliche, but even given that it was bad).
