What's Good: (Fluid sprite animation, music made for the game, comfortable platformer section, good cohesion as the level completes.) However, there's a good amount of bad. Owl's song doesn't introduce or distinguish when the 'd' key is shown, it's colored the same as the S key and it took me misses to realize it was another key. The Wood song is missing visual effects for the notes to disappear which is jarring when compared to the rest of the songs, and that rapid fire that Eth217 said is just awful. For the problems that encompasses the rest of them: strange syncing that varies between songs, unskippable starts and ends of the songs, and visual clutter that makes it difficult to focus on the thing I'm supposed to be playing.
I enjoyed playing the game. The only issues I had were: the text for the dialogue came out rather slowly, so I just jumped around in place waiting for it to end so I could know the story. Space and W both have the same function, but climbing a ladder interrupts the other input, resulting in cases where I would just stop climbing. Climbing a ladder and holding horizontal input against a wall resulted in the character slowing down, depends on how you see it, this could be either intentional or unintentional.
I enjoy games like this, but being restricted to one weapon really throws me off. Not only that, but the dialogue really irks me. There's no really any creative way to give the characters their items or when you find the characters. Having it be "Oh hey look! The developer gave us a new weapon. Let me explain exactly how it works" is not very wise to do. I dunno, I'm not usually nitpicky but this bugs me more than it should.
I think I was visited by a penguin god or something cause when i fell down, a pengin gui appeared on my screen telling me to get up, and all of a sudden i was high into the air. wierd.
Amazing! I like how all the different fighters have different attacks. And the Animation prequel was one of the BEST STICK ANIMATIONS I HAVE EVER SEEN.
@joshua50 I found out that, if you click WAAAAYYY too much on the harder difficulties the circles around your character start to decrease until you pop.
Great idea! Maybe that can make it to the Boss 101 sequel! Best, -Tim
