The fact that pieces can be made to overlap does, indeed, seem like the worst design decision here. On the other hand, definitely don't make pieces lock when placed correctly; only morons need that.
The 'imperial' number option seems to have ceased obeying the principle of superposition. Prior to the update they were adding up normally, now the math doesn't make any sense.
As a puzzle, I like it; but the execution is flawed. Most importantly to me, there are way too many slooooooow graphical/animation fripperies. Do we really need to sit and watch the stars take their sweet time popping into place at the end of every level, &c.?
Until the large-scale use of quinine in the mid-1800s enabled the 'Scramble for Africa', well after the triangular-trade period, Europeans considered actually entering the African continent as essentially a death sentence. Slaves were purchased from rival tribes who captured one another in warfare, or from Arab merchants who themselves acquired them mainly from the same rival tribes. This is an important bit of history that is rapidly becoming a "little-known fact".

That's good to know. Appreciate the feedback. I'll find another way to draw attention to it when it changes. Update: The tutorial box now scales in and out instead of flashing.
