Idea: If possible, places early in the game where it says "the girl" rather than "Norn" before we know her name could switch to "Norn" once we learn her name?
@Alpha081 To beat father, I used the levels from beating Lostlorn Forest Abyss and slash to simply out damage and defense him. To beat Lostlorn Forest Deep, I fought as deep as I could into it repeatedly to gain researches for the creatures in it, and leveled them up, always using my most powerful units, until I beat it.
(4/4) -rare enemies are more than a little bit too rare, or their research is. It would take days to grind rares to a high level due to the incredibly low droprate of their researches. -in general, just the fact that the grind is incredibly slow. If there are any other complaints, I am sorry to have missed them. This is mostly for the developer and players, as it should bring attention to the fact that these complaints are not just yours, they are often shared among more than one other person playing alongside. Hope to see this game get better, loving it so far!
(3/4) -hard walls that take days, or at least several hours, to grind past. Dim cave takes forever to get past the first time, and in general there is only one way to do it. Lostlorn forest deep is another one to a lesser extent. I haven't gotten there yet, but the academic city seems to have several. Potential solutions: different ways to achieve the same goals. Upgrading skills and equipment, like in the beta, etc.
(2/4)
- there is no tutorial; by this I mean there is no explanation of how to do things besides guess and check. When you get a chest, you don't know, and it's not intuitive to think, that you can open it in the shop. New features, such as the familiar menu, are not explained explicitly. Nor is the fact that pressing shift on the party menu allows you to view each allies skills.
(1/4)Most common game balance complaints I have seen so far:
- dead ends, where the requirements to complete a mission are removed. Potential solutions: add redundancy, where there are always multiple ways to complete a mission, lower the requirements for missions, or remove nonessential missions when the things required for them are blocked.
-The grind for familiar levels/stamina regen scales too quickly. It scales from minutes to hours in only like, 3 levels. Potential solutions: It could be completely intended, which is fine, but if the grind isn't supposed to be days, then adjust the equation for the time, or allow for a free way (a loop action, for example) to speed them up.
@SyrianMafioso The doppleganger lets you do loop actions while fighting. So if your character is in the middle of Lostlorn Forest, you can still perform the lumberjack, or rest, or energy recovery actions, for example
@Knight8183 The quickest way I've found is to loop waterfall, keeping all of your habit on praying. This applies both a multiplier and a constant source of xp. You get, on average ~10xp per three seconds, and a 10% multiplier added every few seconds as well (ex. with 20lv of miracle stone and 5 habit in praying, you get a 10% mutiplier every 6 seconds). Hope this helps!
A lot of the early game progress is far too slow, at the moment. Doing something simple, like making ritual levels cumulative (all experience from the previous level carries on to the next) would speed up progress and make the game more enjoyable at the very begining. As it is, though, I am happy with how the game is. It seems well thought out and is very fun. 4.5/5 stars
Thank you for posting this game... I will keep an eye out for any updates or new versions, because even though I finished the game in about 4 hours, it was really fun and entertaining. Great job!
Question: is there a way to get a house big enough to hold every skill-enhancing thing in the game? I have the shrouded isle with a basement and am still about 150 floor space short
This is a crazy good game. Few games I have ever played have such in depth characters, you would almost think that the characters are part of the author. The characters seem real... if they all do end up surviving, I would love to see some sort of epilog, where some of the characters meet up out side of the four elements hotel, or whatever the building actually is. The hint system is a new concept, you can actually learn about the characters in the hints, and not all of what they have to say is a hint. It helps make you want to listen to all they have to say, wondering if they'll drop a hint about themselves. Their reactions are very realistic, and they all have a unique personality. You have internal and external conflict, and you have the main antagonist, while the characters are also providing conflict. Very engaging, realistic, fun, and intriguing game. I look forward to harder challenges, and to more story as the game progresses. Great work!
Thanks! I really appreciate it. There are more twists and turns to come, so stay tuned!
