Likewise, a complaint of clones can also be valid, and even worth a 1/5, in some cases, such as if the game was the exact same as a previous game, just with different icons or whatever. Basically, a clone in the "blatantly ripped off" sense. One that shares the same genre isn't, though.
And again, this is situational, but more common. "Too hard" is also a valid complaint. If you've got a game that requires pixel perfect jumping (When the game's not supposed to be like that. If you're playing a game like IWBTG, this complaint becomes invalid), or your character needs to level in a specific way that the game gives no inkling to whatsoever, or else the enemies will curb-stomp you without fail, now that's a valid complaint of "too hard".
Needs menu button 1/5.
In all seriousness, though, this is a statement game done right. It presents the author's opinion in an interesting way, bringing up a lot of the silly things people complain about. However, it's important to remember that a statement game is exactly that, and people will disagree with it. And while I don't suggest ranting and raving, swearing at the game and it's supporters, I do encourage people with alternate opinions to bring up a civil discussion. This goes the other way around, as well, as supporters of the game shouldn't bash people who disagree with it, rather, they should debate the points they bring up.
For example, Lag can be a legitimate complaint, if it's extreme. The maze thing was just silly, and, while not warranting a 1/5, would definitely be worth a complaint, if it was like that on all but the most top end computers.
One last thing: It's very important to remember, for the most part, that the people who rate and comment are usually the people who's played it through. This usually means that the people liked it enough to rate it high, and comment favorably. Some people try to criticize, but most of the time, the critics get lumped in with the people who expect to be spoon-fed, and chased away. So the game never gets improved, because no-one's willing to give suggestions. Also, if there's 100 people saying the game is too hard for every 1 saying "no, it's not" and/or "suck it up", then you might have a difficulty problem. While games are easier than they were in the older days, people are at various skill levels. I appreciate games trying to give people a challenge, but this can end up going too far without the player even realizing it.
Bleh. While I have nothing bad to say about the concept, the Insane mode could have used some play testing. Occasionally, mines in the first part would land in such a way where you have almost no room to land, no matter how high you jump. In the ocean bit, the columns, while having a bit of leeway at the end, are still hard to pass through if the two just touch. But most aggravating of all is the differing speeds between you and the obstacles. Many a time have I lost simply because I stopped running for a second to avoid running into an obstacle, when I end up hitting the BACK of an obstacle. Someone mind telling me how that works? A still object is hitting me because I'm not running. And before anyone detracts this comments, with something like "You complain because you suck!", I did get the badge after 130 continues.
My main issue with this game is that when I try and scroll up or down to adjust the map size, it also moves the page up and down. Anyone know a way aroubd this?
On the subject of things to talk about, the Red Herring's color is the same color as the "Objects of interest", and you can't tell how many are nearby.
I love it when a game creator monitors the comments. I love it even more when they take those comments and improve on the game. It makes for a very nice experience.
First one was better so far, at second stage boss. He seems really finicky about what counts as a slash here, I keep falling into the pits, regardless of efforts.
You know, this game would work a lot better if you did something like explain what the powerups actually DID. Just saying, I'd like to know what the helmet did, other than waste money.
My absolute MAJOR problem with this is the restrictiveness of the "Boundaries". I move to the left, and get blocked, so I shift to the right. And get blocked. When the main obstacles move around and dodging them prevents you from moving any further in that direction, you've got a problem. 3/5
