I want more of this game so badly. It's so simple yet so much fun. One of the coolest concepts I've seen in a long time. I don't care if there's little variation in the gameplay. I could definitely see myself playing a 30+ minute story. It's very engaging. Keep up the good work. I can't wait to see a full fledged story!
Good little game. The difficulty wasn't really linear, though. There were two or three levels interspersed randomly in there that were really frustrating to get a star on and took 5-6 tries each. The rest of the levels were a bit too easy.
I had fun with this game, but it was a bit too easy. I discovered early that all you really need to do is max out the defense stat as fast as possible. I finished the game with 25 max HP (which I didn't really need; probably could have gotten away with less), relying on weapons for my attack stat, a tiny bit of speed (what does speed do, anyways?) and everything essentially hitting me for 0. Even the final boss only got two or three hits on me for more than 0 and they were 2 or 3 damage each. I didn't have to heal at all. I would suggest nerfing defense a bit so the other stats become a bit more important. I rarely used any spells. I basically just played the game stacked on defense and using the attack command all the way through.
I've encountered a bug that currently makes the game unplayable for me. When reading the instructions, the "X" button would not function and I was stuck in the instruction screen. I reloaded the game and it now sits at "Loading 100%". I am unable to continue onto the game. I'd love to try this game. Please address this bug when you get a chance!
I had a good time with this game, even if the AI was incredibly stupid at times. I wish it was longer, though. I never got to turn any of my penguins into the high end robotic ones. I had the add-on robotic penguin, but with that, 50% health and 130% speed upgrade (0 bombs), the game is easily beatable with only the second-to last upgrade set if you have 5 penguins upgraded to that level. It may even be beatable with less, but it was my first playthrough and I was learning/taking my time.
Love these games. I mainly love the fact that there are "wrong" solutions to the levels. I've gotten through a lot of levels in which I knew what I was supposed to do, but I either couldn't pull it off or found a ghetto way of doing it more easily.
One of my favorite series of games I've played on Kongregate. Every once in a while I come back and replay them once I've forgotten the solutions to the later levels. Hope to see more of them!
I liked Icy Gifts, but this was barely different. Needs about 70 levels instead of 35, at least another 2 or 3 new types of "bomb", and better upgrade system.
Also, it's way, way too easy. I finished the game with all 3 stars and achievements in about 20 minutes.
