Although Langman is no longer playable here on Kongregate due to the deprecation of the Unity WebPlayer, you can now download a free Windows build of the game, plus its chiptune soundtrack, here:
https://vonlehecreative.itch.io/plangman
The download is called "Langman - an early prototype of Plangman (Windows).zip".
Enjoy!
If you enjoyed this early prototype, please check out the further evolution of the original concept: http://kongregate.com/games/vonlehecreative/plangman
@BumbleShock - That sounds like some kind of weirdness with the Unity physics engine. Can you provide more details about where you're seeing this? Is the character standing on the block that's dropping?
@NagyB: Glad you tried it! The blocks fall when you win because of the ~~~, which is used to separate levels. Because there's nothing after the ~~~, after you beat your first level you get an empty level, where the non-letter blocks disappear but the letters stay where they were. Deleting the ~~~ in the Levels text box should take care of the problem. (Also, you're missing a few letters in your level, such as w.)
@greenfuzzey - In those situations, you can use a bomb to blow up the block that's in the way. Was this unclear? Or had you simply used up all your bombs?
Updates: 1) Three new levels. 2) Progress saving. 3) "Reset" and "Game Over" no longer cause you to lose guesses. I hope these updates make the game more enjoyable.
@wolfkid7 - Sounds like a performance issue. Try going to the settings menu and changing the quality from "highest" to "fastest". If that doesn't solve it let me know.
A simplified Tempest remake, but still fun. A few suggestions: 1) It would be cool to give the ship/enemies a bit more character, or have different kinds of enemies. 2) The tutorial should tell the player to hold down Z. 3) Is there any way to defeat the enemies once they reach the outer edge? 4) Finally, consider how you might differentiate it from Tempest and make it your own.
Nice level, 01neverest10. Here's one that makes use of bombs: langman?levels=+%40++`7%21`%0a+`13%23`%0a+`13%23`%0a+`13%23`%0a+%23+%2b`9+`%23%0a+%23+`9%2b`+%23%0a+%23+abcdefgh%2b+%23%0a+%23`9+`%2b+%23%0a+%23+`8%2b`p+%23%0a+%23+%2bijklmno++%23%0a+%23+%2b`9+`%23%0a+%23+q`8%2b`+%23%0a+%23++rstuvwx%2b+%23%0a+%23`9+`%2b+%23%0a+%23+`8%2b`%23%23%23%0a+%23+yz`6%2b`%23%23%23
Here's a new level. Just open the level editor, press "Load...", paste the following code into the text box, click "Load", and click "New Game". Enjoy, and remember that stars are good for more than just points.
langman?levels=`22+`%23%0a`22+`%23%0a`22+`%23%0aabcde`11+`fghij`9+`%21%0a`12+``4%2b``11+`klm+nop%0a`10+`%40`10+`|%0a`6+`21`4%23`%0a%0a`23+`%23%0a`13+`21`6%23`++%23++q+s+u+w+y%0a`21+`%23%23++*+r+t+v+x+z%0a`12+`%23%0a`13+`%23%0a`14+`%23%0a`15+``6%23`%0a`21+``5%23`
I've added a couple new features:
You can now skip levels you have previously beaten by pressing L (however, it's not retroactive).
I've also hidden three bombs throughout the game, starting at level five. Bombs destroy blocks or fallen letters, and can be used to clear a path to a letter you need if you happen to have dropped something on top of it. Bombs can also be used to take shortcuts through puzzles.
Please let me know what you think of these new features.
