Nope, it has no attacks or specials, it just follows you around.

perhaps later there could be a way to put back the surface land that you dug so that more boars could spawn if you accidentally dug some of the very top layer of dirt?
Boars can spawn on the surface above dug-out dirt. Just like you (and NPCs) can walk there, it's not really a "hole," or maybe it's a small hole you can walk around. So, they will spawn even if you dug all of the top layer of dirt.

how do you get a beast to a higher maturity? i have several beasts at level 10 but i don't see an option to mutate them
