3/11 7:00 pm EST the game is broken right now, you cannot build anything other then extraction type....

It says I have 5 free gems per day, but I only ever get 1

You don't get 5 gems every 24 hours, but instead 1 gem every 4.8 hours (24h / 5). This way you can either wait for additional ones or already use some for boosters etc. Please create a bug report, when you think you don't get the gems as mentioned above.
