My avy is my cat Two-Tone. Isn't she sooo cute!? I will be changing it back to the L4D Witch but I wanted it to be my cat. ~Feathertail~ This is my story. Icestar, The Beginning "WAKE UP!"screamed Wildkit. "What do you want!?" said Icekit sleepily. "It's time to be named apprentices!" Wildkit bounced around excitedly and shook with happiness. Instantly Icekit was on her paws. She squeeled with excitement. "I can't believe it! Today I begin training to become the BEST Warrior ever!"Icekit could barely stand on her paws. Cloudheart, a jet black queen with a white patch on her chest, stepped forward. She let out a purr of amusement as she looked at her kits. She began grooming Wildkit and Icekit as she told them how to behave, because they had the sternest leader. Snowstar, a strong tom that had fought many battles and lost none. He never teamed up with others if he needed help, as if he ever needed help, or if another clan needed help. Though he was a strong leader he wasn't very compassionate. As Cloudheart lead her kits from the nursery she sighed and looked to the sky, one moon ago her third kit Mousekit was taken by green-cough. As Snowstar called the clan to the meeting Icekit thought of who she wanted to be her mentor. Grasswind is brave but Clawfur, the deputy, was an amazing fighter and loyal to the clan. "Clawfur, you are ready to take a new apprentice." Announced Snowstar. Clawfur's eyes gleamed as his name was called. "You will be mentor to Icepaw" Snowstar said it with a hint of something else in his voice. Icekit's eyes grew wide as she realized that it was hostility she had heard in his voice! Well, that wasn't going to stop her! She stepped forward and touched noses with Clawfur, her head held high the entire time. As she listened to who her brothers mentor would be she looked at Snowstar and saw that his eyes brightened when he looked at Wildkit. Why is he looking at my brother like that!? Thought Icepaw. Then her jaw dropped as she heard who would mentor her brother. Snowstar himself, who had never taken a new apprentice since Grasswind was named a Warrior and Snowstar became leader, had appointed himself Wildpaw's mentor! Wildpaw looked amazed as he touched noses with Snowstar. As Snowstar called the meeting to an end Icepaw saw a glimmer of fear in Willowdream's eyes. Willowdream, the Medicine cat of IceClan, was never a fearful cat. She soon caught the eyes of Icepaw and looked away quickly. Icepaw wondered why Willowdream would look away from her like that. Then Clawfur nudged her. "Ready to look around the territory?" He asked. Icepaw looked up at Clawfur, eyes gleaming as she took in his mottled brown fur. Then she looked at his scars from his clawed face for wich he got his name. "Yes" Replied Icepaw. As Clawfur lead the way through the thorn barrier Icepaw thought she heard something and as she turned she saw her father, Ravenwind a grey and white tom with amber eyes, was talking to Cloudheart. Icepaw was amazed that they were whispering to each other as they shot worried glances at Wildpaw. What are they talking- Icepaw's thought's were interupted by Clawfur. "Are you coming?" Clawfur asked with a questioning glance at her. "Uhmm...yeah. Sorry I was thinking about how much fun this is going to be." Icepaw quickly lied to cover up her strange behavior. "Well, then lets go." Clawfur said as he turned back towards the barrier. Icepaw hurried to catch up to him and and check out the territory. As they went along a commonly used path Clawfur instantly dropped into the hunters crouch and signaled Icepaw to be still with his tail. As he began to crawl towards his prey Icepaw caught a strange scent but she didn't want to interupt Cloudfur as he hunted. Suddenly, a streak of tabby fur flew past Icepaw and slammed into Clawfur. Clawfur screeched and rounded on his enemy. Icepaw could scent the strange smell she had scented earlier on this cat's pelt. A ferocious snarl ripped from the great brown Warriors throat as he pounced the strange cat. Though the tabby was a massive cat it was no match for Clawfur's instinctive skills in battle. The deputy soon had the tom pinned to the ground. "Who are you?" Clawfur said it with hostility clear in his voice. "Wouldn't you like to know, Clawfur." Clawfur's suprise was clear on his face as the tom said his name. "How do you know my name!?" Clawfur nearly spat the words out at the intruder. In an instant the tom thrust heavily with his shoulders and knocked Clawfur off. He must have let Clawfur pin him down! He was acting like he was weak. Icepaw couldn't help herself she pounced the tom and bit his ear. "Wow really painful." Sneered the tabby. Icepaw's body filled with rage and she pulled with her teeth still in his ear. A rippng sound came along with the scent of blood. "Ahh!" The tom flipped Icepaw off and pounced her. She looked at his ear as she tried to protect herself. He had a clear tear in his ear. That made the young apprentice proud, she had harmed an older cat with more experience! Then the weight of the massive tabby was lifted. She looked up into ice-blue eyes rather then gentle amber. Snowstar let out a sound of disgust as he looked at the trespasser. "How dare you come on my territory! You will leave and never come near my borders again. My Warriors will be told to fight you to the death if you are found or if your scent is found." Snowstar said it with open hostility. The tom looked at Clawfur then at the massive white tom standing a mouse length from his face and ran. Then Snowstar rounded on Clawfur. "You let an experienced cat fight your apprentice!? Well at least you put a mark on him Clawfur." Snowstar had begun with disgust and ended with minor unapproval. "Uhh, uhmm, well actually..." Clawfur began. "What!?" Spat Snowstar. "Icepaw tore his ear. He had knocked me off and I couldn't move." Clawfur said it with a hint of emberrasment in his voice. "You mean SHE attacked him!?" The white tom said it with amazement. "Yes." The brown tom made it plain that she was there by looking at her. Only then did Snowstar look at her. "Why would you attack an experienced cat like that?" He sounded very angry. Icepaw held her head high. "He was attacking one of my clan-mates. I will protect my clan with tooth and claw. Somehow he knew Clawfur's name." Icepaw finished trying to distract the great white tom by pointing his attention back at Clawfur. "Well, we had better be going back to the camp." Snowstar said nothing about the fact that the tabby knew his deputy's name. Why would he deliberately drop the subject of a stranger knowing Clawfur's name? Icepaw wondered as she followed them back to camp. Only then did she realize that Wildpaw was there. She walked up beside him and they walked to camp side by side. As we entered the camp Snowstar went straight to the ledge where he called the Clan meetings. "All cats able to catch there own prey join here beneath the highledge for a Clan meeting." He began with the normal ritual of calling the Clan together. As cats poured out from the dens Icepaw looked at the powerful white tom. He looked as if he were ready to pounce Icepaw. She shrank back, not knowing if he would punish her for some reason. He looked at the Clan and spoke "During Icepaw's first outing with her mentor, Clawfur, they were attacked by a rogue. Luckily I was on my way out with Wildpaw." He glared out at Clawfur and Icepaw. "He is a tabby tom and has a torn ear." Snowstar continued. "If you see or smell him you are to drive him off of IceClan territory." As Snowstar called the meeting to an end she saw Owlpaw stiffen. She wondered what had made him look so nervous then she stiffened. She smelt something...strange. As she saw others stiffen a small cat walked into the camp! He looked scared as Snowstar jumped over towards him. Snowstar walked over and his muscles rippled through his pelt. It was a small grey tom with blue eyes. He was small and Icepaw realized that he was no older than her. Then a small grey and white she-cat stepped in front of him and looked directly at Snowstar. "Snowfur?" She mewed. Snowstar took a step towards her and said "It's Snowstar now." "Well, Snowstar, I need to speak with you." She looked around at all of the gathered cats. "Alone." Snowstar dismissed all of the gathered cats with a flick of his tail and led the she-cat and the young tom up to his den. "What do you think they're talking about?" Wildpaw's meow made Icepaw jump. "Uh, I don't know. But it is weird that she new his name." Owlpaw and Mousepaw walked over to them. "Icepaw, Clawfur says that you need to find a nest in the apprentices den then eat." Owlpaw said. Icepaw and Wildpaw walked over to the apprentices den and found two un-used nests. "Want to share something to eat?" Wildpaw asked his sister. Icepaw nodded and they walked out of the den to the fresh-kill pile. Wildpaw picked out a starling and they walked over to a shaded spot near the apprentices den. As they gulped down the las of their meal Snowstar emerged from his den followed by the she-cat and the grey tom. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather together for a Clan meeting." His meow rang across the clearing. Once all of thecats were gathered he began. "I know that there have been questions about our two visitors, but you need not worry." Why shouldn't we worry!? They have invaded our territory. Icepaw thought questioningly. "This is Star." The leader pointed towards the she-cat with his tail. "and this is her kit, Smoke" he continued. "Star was a clan cat once before. She was known as Mistyclaw and she was my mate." Gasps came from the cats and Icepaw heard Sandpelt say " I knew that I had seen her before." Nightheart rushed out of the nursery plump with kits. "Mistyclaw? Did someone just say Mistyclaw?" She looked up to her leader and let out a purr. Mousepaw nudged Icepaw. "Why is she so happy to see her?" Mousepaws mentor Sandpelt said " Wouldn't you be happy to see your sister after many moons?" "Nightheart and Mistyclaw are sisters!" Mousepaws astonished meow had every cat looking at her. Snowstar silenced the Clan with a flick of his tail. Stormheart stood up and faced their leader "If she was a Clan cat then why did you say that her name was Star?" "She left the Clan when she found out that her mother was a kittypet. The Two-legs re-named her Star." Stormheart asked " Didn't you say that that is her kit? You also said that she was your mate so that makes--" Snowstar cut him off "Him my kit. Yes, this is my kit and he will be raised as a Clan cat from now on." Cats looked around with anxious glances. "She has done her best to raise him as a Clan cat but she thinks that the best way to do that is to have him raised in a Clan." Stormheart sat down but he didn't look too pleased. "Star did not name him. Her Two-legs named him Smoke and she was going to name him a proper Clan name of Tornkit. Ravenstep, you need an apprentice. You will be mentor to Tornpaw." Ravenstep looked up wit hshock but yet he seemed happy to have an apprentice. He stepped forward and touched noses with his new apprentice. "Mistyclaw, will you stay in the Clan?" Icepaw was shocked, the great and fearless leader had sounded hopefull and sounded like he wanted her to stay. "I will stay if the Clan wishes it." Snowstar looked out at the gathered cats. "Does any cat think that Mistyclaw should not stay with the Clan she was born into?" When no cat spoke she dipped her head and and thanked all of the cats. She jumped down from the leaders den and walked over to some of the older Warriors. "Where's Sunpelt?" Nightheart looked down at her paws. "He died in battle with a group of rouges that challenged his patrol. No one got there in time." Mistyclaw looked down and her eyes clouded with grief. "I see you are expecting kits Nightheart." "Yes, they are Lostclaws." She looked relieved to have the subject changed. Icepaw walked over to Mistyclaw. "Hi." "Well, hello there young apprentice. What is your name?" "I'm Icepaw. My mentor is Clawfur and I became an apprentice today." "Well congratulations." "Thank you." Nightheart looked at her sister. "Icepaw has been a very adventurous cat since she was born."She purred. Icepaw looked up at the sky and reallized that it was getting dark. "Icepaw, I'm going to sleep." Wildpaw called over from the apprentices den. "Okay." Icepaw said. "Bye." Icepaw called over her shoulder as she bounded over to the apprentices den. She pushed her way in and ran into Tornpaw. "Sorry", Icepaw meowed. Tornpaw glanced over his shoulder at her. "I'm fine, I probably shouldn't have been standing right in front of the entrance." "I'm Icepaw." "I'm Tornpaw, but you already knew that." "Could you all quit gossiping and let the rest of us get some sleep?" Owlpaws irratated meow came from the other side of the den. "Sorry", Tornpaw mumbled. Icepaw flicked his shoulder with the tip of her tail. "Don't worry about Owlpaw he'll be a Warrior soon and we won't have to deal with him in here." "Can't wait till that day comes." Owlpaw meowed. "Goodnight", Icepaw meowed to Tornpaw. She walked over to her nest and curled up, the rythmic breathing of her denmates lulled her to sleep. "Icepaw!" Clawfurs annoyed meow jolted Icepaw awake. "Come on!" "Coming!" Icepaw called as she stretched. As she emerged from the den she noticed that it was barely light out. "Dawn Patrol?" Icepaw asked. "Yep", Clawfur replied. "We are going with Ravenstep and Tornpaw. Mostly to show him around the territory." "Okay." Owlpaw called over from where he was sharing tounges with Mousepaw "Why can't I come? I am Clan born after all." "So is he." Icepaw saw Owlpaw jump as Snowstar growled. "Uh s-sorry Snowstar." Owlpaw stammered. "You can go and check the elders for ticks." Owlpaw walked over to the medecine cats' den, his tail drooping. "Come on." Ravenstep called over from the camp entrance. As they walked out of the entrance Tornpaw slowed down and matched his pace to Icepaws. "Why does Owlpaw hate me?" He looked at her with sadness in his eyes. "Ignore Owlpaw, he's just a grumpy badger. Just work hard and protect your Clan and everyone will accept you." "I'll try, but it seems like most cats don't want me training in the Clan. They accept St-Mistyclaw," He corrected himself and went on "But they don't seem to like the fact that I was born to Clan cats but born outside the Clan." "I've accepted you. Your parents are both Clan cats and you are willing to train as a Warrior." "Thanks." Tornpaws eyes shone with gratitude.~~~~~ As they were all returning to camp they heard a low murmur of grief coming from the camp. Clawfur and Ravenstep exchanged a quick look before running into the camp. Tornpaw ran in after them with Icepaw right behind him. Sittining in the middle of the camp wa Tabbyheart. She was a beautiful white cat with odd stripes on her front legs, inner thighs, and face. One jet black line from the top of her head leading down towards her cream white muzzle and surrounding it with two black stripes from below her ears to just below her eyes. She was crouched next to Twitchingwhiskers. Icepaw knew from scent that he was dead. Her heart flooded with grief. He was one of the nicest cats in the Clan. He always told the best stories and let the kits pounce on his tail. Tabbyheart was his only littermate left after Silverpaw died from a badger attack when she was just an apprentice. Tabbyheart lifted her haed and let out a silent wail and her eyes clouded with grief as she dropped her head down and started making sounds that kits make when their mother is away for too long. Icepaw raced over to her and crouched down beside her and started to groom Twithchingwhiskers' pelt. She draped her tail over Tabbyhearts shoulders. Snowstar was looking at them and Icepaw saw something flash in his eyes. Was that actually pain? No, it couldn't have been. The last time Snowstar had qrieved was before she was a born, when Willowstar lead the Clan. Then Icepaw realized that Twitchingwhiskers had been one of the braves Warriors, and was loyal to the Clan. He walked over to where the rest of the patrol was still standing. Then he nodded and jumped onto Treestump. He didn't even have to call out because everycat was already gathered. All eyes turned to him. "We shall all miss Twitchinwhiskers, from the smallest kit to the most aged elder. He was a loyal and brave cat that has served his Clan for longer than most cats. I spoke with Willowdream when he was first found and she said that it was his time to leave and go to StarClan." There was a look of sadness that clouded Tabbyhearts eyes as she stared at her brother. Snowstar jumped down from Treestump and slid through the crack in it to crawl down into his underground den. "Icepaw." Cloudhearts soft voice called from where she was standing with Wildpaw. She licked Tabbyheart between the ears and raced over to them. "Clawfur wants you to go out at Sunhigh and train with Mousepaw and Sandpelt." He rvoice dropped down lower and when she spoke her voice was thick with grief. "He will be mourning for his father." Her eyes shown with sympathy. She licked her kits between the ears and walked over to where Twitchingwhiskers' body lay. Icepaw looked up at the sky. It would be a while before Sunhigh. She walked over to the fresh-kill pile and picked up a juicy mouse. She carried it over to where Owlpaw was eating. He looked up at her and his green eyes shone. "Looks like someone is feeling less grumpy." Mousepaw purred as she walked up to them. "Stormheart told me that I will be having my final test today!" "He gulped down the rest of the squirrel he had been eating and bounded over to the entrance of the camp. Icepaw stared after him. He may be a grumpy cat sometimes but he was brave and quick to learn. She felt a sudden pang of sadness that he would be moving to the Warriors den soon. "At least someone around here is happy." Mousepaws meow jolted Icepaw back to the present. She looked over at the brown she-cat ans saw grief and pain in her eyes. She was staring at the body of Twitchingwhiskers. "It was his time to go." Icepaw tried to soothe her den-mate. "He will always be missed. I remember when he first told the Clan that he was moving to the elders' den. He had waited much longer than most cats. I guess he just didn't want to admit that he was getting old. Then again he was lively even when he was in there. He fought like a young Warrior when ShadowClan attacked even though he had been in the elders' den for two moons." Her eyes were closed and when she opened them they were shining with admiration. Mousepaw walked over to the camp entrance and when Icepaw looked up she realized that it was nearly Sunhigh. She hurried and gulped down her mouse as Sandpelt stood up from where she had been laying near the group of grieving cats. She stretched and Icepaw saw muscles ripple beneath her light-orange pelt. She looked over at Mousepaw and then at Icepaw. Icepaw ran over to join her and Mousepaw next to the entrance. They walked out and headed towards the small clearing that they used to train. "Okay, let's see your hunting crouches." Sandpelt called as they walked into the clearing. Mousepaw instantly dropped into a perfect crouch. "But I thought we were doing battle training?" Icepaw queried. "Have you ever been hunting?" Sandpelt sounded annoyed. "No." Icepaw looked down at her paws. "Then you need to practice. For future reference do as you are told. Even if it isn't your mentor that is telling you to do it. Mousepaw is a perfect example." Mousepaws eyes shone happily at her mentors praise. Icepaw tried to copy Mousepaw but she felt lopsided. "No, no, no." Sandpelt stalked over to Icepaw. "You need to keep your tail straight and off of the ground. Put all of your wait into your haunches. When you stalk you need to step very lightly. Does anyone know why?" Mousepaw jumped to her paws and replied. "Because a mouse will feel you coming through the ground before it scents you or sees you." "Very good, Mousepaw. Now, Icepaw, stalk forward." Icepaw made sure she was barely putting her paws on the ground. "Very good! You learn quickly young one." Icepaw stood up and felt pride surge through her body only to be replaced by a sudden realization. Warriors needed to know how to do everything perfectly. She only knew how to do a good crouch. "Okay now let's try some battle moves. Icepaw, have you been battle training yet?" "No." Icepaw suddenly realized that because they had been ambushed on their first outing she hadn't even seen half of the territory! "Okay, I want you to go on instinct for a moment and attack Mousepaw. Keep your claws sheathed though!" Icepaw looked at Mousepaw. She was only made an apprentice four sunrises before Icepaw and yet she was already powerful. Her kitten-soft fur and small stubby legs had been replaced by hard lean muscles. In just a few days she was already a worthy opponent! Icepaw prepared herself to leap when suddenly Snowstar and Wildpaw came bonding into the clearing. "Ah, some battle training I see." Then he spotted Icepaw and looked over at Sandpelt. "Where is Clawfur?" "He is in camp mouring for his father." Sandpelt replied with sympathy shining in her eyes. "Then why isn't Icepaw with him? Or, better yet, why isn't he with her? Even though he has lost someone dear and close to him life must go on and this apprentice must be trained in the way of a Warrior!" He had slowly gotten louder and more aggresive. He turned on Icepaw. "Go back to camp and tell Clawfur that you are to go hunting." As Icepaw trotted away he added "And tell him that if I have to schedule your training then I will have to find you a new mentor!" Icepaw flicked her tail in acknowledgement and took off towards the camp. As she raced through the forest and dodged her obstacles she made a silent vow. I will be the greatest Warrior that IceClan has ever seen! I will be feared out of respect rather than keeness to shed blood. I will lead IceClan into a new and wonderful life. She kept repeating it in her mind as she raced into the camp. She walked over to Clawfur and settled down next to him. She sat there in quiet for a few moments then told Clawfur what Snowstar had said. He stood up and stretched until his tail quivered. "Let's go then." He said finally and his voice was dry and flat. Thay walked out of the camp and towards a smaller less used path. "This path leads us towards Cut-tree. It is a tree that has been cut for many seasons. It was cut when Willowstar had just become leader. Small prey is always lurking around it but they are sometimes hard to catch because they dive into the tree. It will be easier to catch some today because it is early green-leaf and the prey will be abundant." He sped off down the trail with Icepaw hard on his heels. In the distance Icepaw could see the stump of a tree and pieces laying on the ground. This must be Cut-tree. Icepaw thought. Clawfur stopped and signaled with his tail for Icepaw to crouch down. Remembering her training from earlier she dropped into a crouch. She opened her jaws wide and scented the air. Clawfur stalked off towards a clump of bracken that was just beyond Cut-tree. Icepaw heard a small scuffling sound and picked up the scent of a mouse. She quickly scanned her surroundings for any sign of the tiny brown creature. She saw it nibbling on a seed behind a part of the tree. It was a nice plump mouse and Icepaws jaws watered just thinking about it. She stalked forward making sure to keep her paws lighter than feathers and staying downwind of the mouse. She was less than a tail lenght away from it when it realized she was there. Too late. She pounced on it and gave it a swift bite to the neck. She turned around, eyes shining, with her first catch in her jaws. Clawfur was standing there with a starling and a squirrel beside him. He purred when he saw her mouse. "The elders will be very pleased, young Icepaw. But do you think we should catch more?" She suddenly realized that this was a test and that she had been told over and over as a kit that the Clan must be fed first. She thought that that must apply here as well. "We must hunt more." She replied without hesitation. "Good. Look over there." He flicked his tail in one direction and then bounded off in the other after scraping dirt over his catch. Icepaw burried her mouse and walked in the direction Clawfur had pointed to. She spotted a crow a few feet ahead of her and dropped into a crouch. She had to catch it! She was almost close enough to pounce when it jumped in the air. She jumped after it and caught one of its wings. She pulled it down and bit its neck. That was such a clumsy catch! She scolded herself inwardly. But at least I did catch it. She picked it up in her jaws and walked over to where she had burried her mouse. Clawfur was standing there and had a mouse in his jaws. His eyes shone with pride as he saw her catch. "Wonderful. This is enough for us. There will be other patrols that will catch more." Icepaw dipped her head and picked up her mouse by its tail. She watched as Clawfur held his squirrel and starling in his mouth then used a paw to scoop the mouse tail close enough to his mouth so that he could hold it too. Icepaw had to suppress a mroww of laughter at the sight of him with his jaws full of prey. They raced back to camp, stopping several times so that Clawfur could rest his mouth. I will post more as I write more. ^-^ Hope you enjoy it. This story is in memory of ~♥Miracle(later known as Scat), Shay, Stripes, and Cinder♥~ ~The kits who never grew~ I am the most unperfect person. I keep telling myself that eventually I won't cry, but every goodbye leads to more tears and memories that will be forever held close to the remains of my heart so broken and shattered that I don't care anymore. I feel like I don't belong anywhere, somedays I am the most happy person in a room, but other days the smallest problem will set me off. I feel unloved all through my life and no one ever cares. I'll have a broken heart forever and there is no use in trying to fix it. Promises mean everything, but once they're broken sorry means nothing. If you love me let me know, if you don't let me go. I hate when friends fight and I hate when people cry. If you cry you should know that there is someone out there who loves you for you, no matter what flaws you think you have. When I look in the mirror I can find flaws with myself and hate them forever, but I know that one day I will look in the mirror and look and be the same way I have always been but I wont find a single flaw with myself because when I turn around he will be there and he will love me for me no matter what and that will make me feel like I have no flaws. You know that you are in love when you feel like you don't belong anywhere, even with your family, until you have that other person. Broken hearts hurt worse than broken bones. To me the saying "There are other fish out there." Which is sometimes said to people after a break up, means that there are other people out there and eventually you will love someone and they will break your heart worse than the other person and you will forget all about him. Yes I have read Twilight and yes I love it, but while other girls spend their time dreaming of vampires I spend my time thinking of you. I love singing, playing flute, writing songs, reading, being alone with my thoughts, being with my family, riding horses, and making new friends. One of my favorite quotes! "If I can only be with you in my dreams, then let me sleep forever" Me= I hide my emotion sometimes . I are a moon type of person. I tend to be the quiet type or in contrast, I am not happy but sometimes I act it out in order for me to not burden my friends with my problems. I've faced some problems in my life. My heart has been dealt blows before . I tend to think about things a lot more than other people, and I may get annoyed with people who act out without thinking about consequences. I am also the type of person that others often come to with their problems because I've been through plenty, and I am very understanding. Though I sometimes feel lonely, my demeanor is usually chill, and relaxed. I'm usually logical, and rely a lot on facts and information on decisions. I often keep things to myself. This is just one side of me, and I have different faces in different situations and environments, just like the moon has phases.
