@promisedcake You can use Plasma Screen, Thogrom Bomber, Devourer to hit them from anywhere. You can also use ships that deal damage on the sides/to all ships like: Hydramorph, Lesser Grav Demon, Greater Grav Demon, Cerberus Drone. There are also some abilities on ships/effects when played that will damage more than one ship/all of them. Plus the different missiles and artillery you mentioned. I think that's plenty.
Placement actually matters for structurs since some ships can destroy structures in front of them. Also they act in order, which matters when you use the Ancient Convertor.
I like how you really take people's comments into consideration and incorporate things in the game.
The game does need a higher difficulty level, maybe like the false god in elements, because once you have all the achievements, building decks that can defeat insane unless you get a very unlucky draw is easy. Ideally this new level/challenge would give new cards (multi-color could use some new, good ships.)
I agree with feralNSFW recommendations, and while the second one would be complicated to implement and change the whole game mechanics, the first one is easy. I suggest a symbol for each type that you see on the corner of the card.

Where is the card multi-color card that gives multiple random ? The one that's not the ancient convertor ? I unlocked everything and I can't find it when I create my own deck
That, or a longer time on a card before the info pops up, or re-working the interface so that an area of the screen shows the info on the card you're currently over (that's be great actually)
I think the game would also beneficiate from a sort of campaign mode, just a few fights that unlock the first few cards, and then a if you want to unlock more, keep playing and earning achievements (score isn't a great name for that section of the menu). It would give a sort of purpose and make getting started easier for players not used to this type of games.
How do you get Fabled or legendary to get 4 points in nightmare instead of 2? Even clearing everything gold medal including infinite space doesn't seem to help
