There is a slight bug with the block skill and protect skill because the protect doesn't always work and the block fades away after one turn even if it says it's there for 5 turns.

@Petso66 You shouldn't nessecarily focus on body or head only in the later coliseums because they may have a lot of armor there. Instead you should focus on disabling that gladiator so he can't deal any damage and to finish him off later. e.g. a 2handed gladiator disable one of his arms and he is useless.
