Really good game. Peaceful, yet not quite simple. However, the menu is absolutely frustrating. I was near something like level 22, and I changed to a different level, and as far as I'm aware it was impossible to get back. I would click on the "incomplete" looking level, but it never did anything. Sometimes I could click a previous level dozens of times before it actually loaded. I ended up redoing a few levels. Not a big deal, but the only thing holding me back from a 5/5.
The boss is the only difficult part of the game, and it requires some grinding even after getting 3 diamonds on all levels. Keep your fire on the boss and try to let your teammates handle little enemies, but keep your heart account above 17 until near the end. Use the electricity power as frequently as possible, it's a good few seconds to focus on the boss. The dynamite's only useful feature is that it pauses creatures for a moment. I used it on the boss so I could have a second to mow down enemies when they piled up (be careful, if the boss is frozen by the dynamite, but you stun him with a bullet, that stun supersedes and he'll get unstunned more quickly). Overall, it's a time challenge, so keep utilizing your magic, and don't be afraid to let some monsters through at the end so you can focus on and kill the big guy.
AUGH, ARE YOU FRIGGIN' KIDDING ME!? On the Clockwork level, I've figured out that the game is VERY POOR at picking up multiple key inputs (ie: more than two). If I'm trying to shoot and move diagonally, I will shoot and move horizontally. If you're moving diagonally, you cannot shoot. WHY!?!?
Your points are determined by the amount of money you have at the end. When you have enough starting cash, buy the +4 Loot, +4 Magnet. That should make it easier to earn up enough for the two pirate flags. This should give you enough time to get the firepower upgrade before facing the final boss. I used the last upgrade slot on the Fire Rate bonus.
The worst part about this game is that by the end of earning the badges, I actually somewhat understood what was going on. And knowing made it even more terrible
Abandon all hope ye who enter here. The random nature of the dropping objects destroys any hope of using technique. When you happen to stray a fraction of an inch in either direction, you may be bombarded on that side, dragging the platform down with no hope of recovery. Your only hope for getting the badge is getting the spikes, keeping the platform as clear as possible, and then praying that you have enough patience to try over and over and over again.
"Hah, I am the Queen of Shadows. I have no physical body, good luck defeating me!"
"Yeah, I'm going to just attack that crystal thing in the center of the room that looks suspiciously like a heart...."
This is one of the best flash games I've ever played. The combination of strategy/turn-based combat for the arena and the action mini-games for training is really awesome.
Not terrible, but the lag is definitely the worst part (especially when it happens while you're trying to kick). Teammates act awful, in that they will go towards where the ball IS rather than where it's GOING. This causes them to miss passes that would otherwise have been easy completions. Point deductions seem random at times. You will receive negative feedback if you are unable to stop a pass between the opposing team, even if the ball is not received (such as going offscreen). This is especially frustrating during the "Skills" training.
Seems really odd that Kongregate would want a game that encourages you to refresh the page. Ads are fairly obtrusive, but at least you don't have to purchase anything.
This would be a way better game if it wasn't so "scripted." Your fuel goes down constantly, so you can't intelligently utilize fuel/boost to get farther without upgrades, which means the only thing that really matters is the tilt of your vehicle. You get such a huge upgrade upon maxing out a vehicle that you can get through 95% of the level without any boost whatsoever. Also, so what if the newest vehicle is "better?" I just maxed out the previous vehicle, let me use it so I can decide for myself.
This was a lot of fun. I only have to nitpicky points about the fuel. The first is that it does not seem to be related to acceleration, it's more of a timer. I feel like there should be a reduction in used fuel if you aren't, for example, accelerating in mid-air. The second point is that after the fuel runs out, I'm no longer able to tilt the vehicle. I would think these should be unrelated. Either way, really cool game!
Really great game. Changing your tactics for a level can have such a dramatic effect. Seems like upgrades are a little expensive, as my final three units had 13, 7, and 5 out of 20 respectively after I had beaten the game.
This game could have been about half as long, and it would have been more enjoyable for it. The enemies in levels seem to spawn randomly, so the "difficulty" rating for each level doesn't seem to mean much. Crafting system is broken, as "rare" items just have stat effects, but they are not necessarily more powerful than "common" items, so it's a waste of crystals. Boss battles were pretty decent, especially the last one.
Make it so ALL missions can be completed (rather than 3 at a time), and it might be worth it to finish the game. I was able to get to the final boss in about 10 runs. Why would I keep playing through the same levels another 10 times? It's no longer a challenge, so it just makes the whole thing tedious and unrewarding.
I try not to write mean reviews because I can't program and this is better than any attempt I ever could have made. However, this game is ridiculously stupid in areas that seem to be common sense. For the one-hit K.O. challenges, you might as well run around in circles until all the enemies come out because you're so much less likely to be hit by an off screen spear-thrower. Why is their throwing distance greater than my vision? Why do you make 90% of the game playable without a mouse, but then force me to click "Retry" or "OK" at the conclusion of every mission? Why is the friendly AI so, so terrible? It's a really good premise, and not a terrible game, but I would give this a four star instead of a two if you would fix some things.
So, what I THINK happened is that one of the eagle-transformers picked up a gem that was near water as he was taking off, and he was also killed at the same moment. This caused the gem to disappear. From then on out, I was unable to click "Attack." I killed the archmage, but the level never ended. So that was weird.
Just like the last one, this is a fantastic puzzle game that I can't stop myself from playing. Minesweeper made right. Hope to see more of your awesomeness later on!
Good stuff. I would like to see a way to get health back, though. If you mess up early, sometimes random luck is against you and you won't get those anchors when you really need them. Purchase ship repairs, maybe?
It was.
