The save function is still completely broken. It doesn't keep track on what upgrades you've bought so when you load you can re-buy everything and get ridiculous multipliers.
It's a really solid base for an idle game, but I feel it needs some additional game mechanic. With how bare bones it is, it isn't very rewarding. Some in-game instructions would also be nice. Put a (?) by every window which opens a pop-up with some basic info for example.
Balance issues aside: It would be more satisfying if coins were collected when the characters touched them and adding a longer delay for auto collecting. Introducing a very slight variable for each friends jump height would make it much more visually stimulating when they bounce around because they would slowly go more and more out of sync with each other; a unique slight jump delay would also work.
Nope! Even avoiding the red block the balance is still way off. From getting 8 coins for regular blocks, I hit a rare block of some kind and it gave me a trillion coins which allowed me to upgrade the coin value to 150 million just like that.
Sweet Jebus, the game balance is broken! The red block spawns way to often and starts with such a high multiplier that you just fly through all the upgrades. By day 4 I had maxed move, jump, double coin and block line. By day 11 I had maxed everything but coin value without resetting even once. I'll have to try a run where I purposely avoid the red block I think. Have to give you kudos for rather original game mechanics though.
It's a start. You should probably have developed it a bit further before publishing it. As things stand you hit a wall within just a few minutes where prices go up much faster than your income making it impossible to progress anywhere. Even disregarding that, there simply isn't all that much in the game yet.
For your own good, I will now tell you something of a harsh truth so that you can hopefully go on to be more successful in the future:
Even if you plan to update a game with more features, releasing it this early will get it a low rating from the early players, new players wont give it a shot because it's rated low, and the early players wont come back even when you update it because they already tried it and there was nothing to see.
Hi! WOW I cannot believe how many plays we've gotten. Yes, this game is not complete; My partner and I wanted to scrap it but decided to post a half-assed game anyway hoping for about 100~ plays. We really didn't expect this much, but we really appreciate the amount of support some of the players have given us. We are very new developers, this is our first game, and for people like you that are giving supporting criticism we just wanted to say thank you.
Overall good update. The multiplier overview is nice and lowering the cost multiplier will create a better pace which until now was rather sluggish. Extra point for so quickly for changing the buying multiple units to showing total cost even if it's more than you can afford.
Can't help feeling that this game is missing something though. While it IS a rather good incremental, there is really no original mechanic to differentiate it from the swarm of others out there. It's good to hear that you are planning on overhauling the conquering mechanics which I hope will create some deeper gameplay.
Great game but the input for jumping needs to be reworked. If I click the jump key just before hitting the ground then fine, that means I want the character to jump. If I hit the jump key twice in a row, it was an accident and the character doesn't have to remember that second click. If the character can queue up an unlimited number of clicks and then keep on jumping, without my input, until he hits a wall; you have done something terribly wrong.
The forced movement to the right together with the player controlled horizontal speed being equal in both directions makes it so that, relative to the road, you move around 3 or 4 times faster to the right than you do to the left. If you added the speed of the ground to the left key it would correct this.
OBS!!! Not saying you should patch this game it's just something I would recommend trying in future games.
That being said, this game is terrific and probably the best game I've played on Kongregate in months. 5/5
Oops! Thanks! :)
