This game is amazingly fun. Even finding the children was enjoyable! Literally the only thing I don't like is that you have to start the survival mode from the beginning each time. That's not really a huge deal though.
Easiest way to win is to rush the enemies, build merchants, and keep your front lines stocked behind your losses (if that ever actually happens because the AI is dumb as hell). The losses you suffer at the end were off as well. I didn't lose any forts and only lost 2 ships and came up with 1 fort and 10 ships. You build up your ability tree way too slowly as well, and the Military side of the tree is way more powerful (almost essential) than the Civil side. I barely managed to unlock the Galleon the second time through (and didn't even come close the first time). Forts are under-powered, overpriced, and almost pointless. Critical hits are just an instant kill and completely random, which is silly and sort of annoying. The AI, even on hard, doesn't understand focus fire or ship placement in combat, and doesn't seem to have a real attack or defense strategy out of combat. I think this game needs some serious rethinking, but I can see it being really fun with a little bit of streamlining.
I really like the enemies moving toward you and trying to kill you. Wish there were more levels. I felt like the game had just started to get difficult when it ended. Really quick and fun game though.
This game encapsulates everything I ever wanted in a flash shooter. It's difficult, super action packed, arcade style graphics, and it's designed to be played in short bursts. 5/5 and favorited. You've also ruined my lunch break and many future lunch breaks.
You can go backwards (down) from the beginning and start the game from the end(?) of the puzzle. It gives you the achievement "clever" and makes the boxes shoot two bullets.
The third guys (Peter Elf Green) 100mp cost ability is the best IMHO. You only need a few units to take out an entire army while it's going and as long as you're killing stuff you'll always have the mana to recast it. I only used him after I got him because no one's abilities seemed to be as good.
There's no reason to ever buy any gun but the last gun. Buying the bonus to %money books first will get you the last gun by the 2nd level in the 2nd chapter. That's if you chose not to restart because you mistakenly thought the characters would be different. On a side note you keep everything you've earned when you die/quit. Also the final boss seemed to be easier than the second boss...not that anything in this game would be considered challenging.
I really liked the game but I thought it was kind of annoying that upgrading your paddle width made it so you couldn't shoot the ghost balls on the very edges of the screen. Many times I was stuck trying to hit a single block in the corner and still holding a ghost ball.
Fun game reminds me of the old GTA. Also, if you drive in the far right (into on coming traffic) and hit all the jumps the cops really can't get you because they die from driving into on coming traffic.
To get the free gold from Lachhh the pirate you need to click off the flash player screen. The game will pause and Lachhh the pirate will start harassing you. When Lachhh tells you that he'll give you free gold if you come back click on the screen again. Hope this helps!
This game is fantastic brought back a lot of Warcraft 1-3 memories. I wish there was some more benefits for defeating a level on harder modes. On a side note, I've been playing games on this site and I have never seen a developer that was so involved with comments and feedback! I hope to see more games from you guys in the future! 5/5
I didn't think it was possible but this game reminds me of Chrono Trigger and Gradius. 5/5 and I hope to see a Starwish 2 in the future.
P.S. I've beaten the game 3 times and I can't stop playing it the replay value is amazing.
I agree with Kronokiller not being able to put together stacks of crafting materials that were in the bank and in my bags is frustrating. Even more frustrating is that even if I have the required amount of material to craft an item but they are in two different stacks it fails to let you craft said item. That being said this game rocks and deserves a 5/5 rating.
A few quick tips: 1) Obviously buy opium when it cost less than 45silver. 2) Avoid risky area's at all costs until the final year, and if you do get caught trading there forfeit your boat instead of paying a ransom. 3) After the 3rd year buy tea like crazy when it's cheap. Even if you've already met the order. 4) On the last 2 years buy tea almost constantly in order to fulfill the final shipment. Got the Ship Shape Shipments badge on my second time through and retested it a 3rd time and got over 80mil again. Good luck and click + so others can see.
How can you rate a game lower because it doesn't have badges? Seem absurd to me. 4/5 fun game but annoying to not be able to get full range w/o mouse going off the screen.
