Combat is far to easy, yet the enemies have tons of hitpoints. The story is not even a bit interesting and the graphics are sub-par. But at least it's mostly bug-free. 2/5 for this boring grindfest.
Also, level progression on survival should be time-based, not score-based. Right now, you can get all "survive x minutes" easily by just nevershooting anything.
Overall very good, but I'd like to see more variety among the enemies. Especially since there are only two things in the whole game that can actually get danerous for you: Chargers and the edge of the screen.
Not bad... But not very good, either. The constant repeating of enemies (even bosses) with the same attack pattern made this pretty boring quite fast. Also, the game get's progressively easier, which is just bad design. 3/5
Tools are far too weak and unreliable. The tool duration "upgrade" makes you actually less efficient by blocking you from using air strike and big bomb for a longer time, which are the only two tool you might actually want to use if the enemy has multiple tanks in front of your base.
Poorly balanced and nothing new.
As soon as I max-upgraded the sniper rifle reload time, the whole game became far too easy.
Also gunmen are far too bad for their cost.
I don't like that there seem to be no final results that are gained by maxing a combination of skills, i.e. combat reputition, faith and zero sin = paladin.
Also bugs:
- I didn't get the "I made this"-achievement for maxing construction, but the "Magic's my middle name"
- The altar event's outcome doesn't seem to depend on faith but on morals
- Firetop mountain and Greer's ambition are never counted as finished for me
- There's no special treasure in Greer's ambition
Only banked gems and trophies you banked count towards your final score. And yes, that also means that only banked gems/floors/enemies count for lifetime total achievments.
Crytalshadow: Have you been playing Survival?
I rather like it. It gets as addicting as Spelunky, but not nearly as frustrating. The first 5/5 I've ever given on Kongregate.
