Can a game be sadistically difficult, mind numbing, and yet still fun? Well, no. This game isn't exactly fun. But it is compulsively playable. I played it all the way through, I have no idea how.
Note to whoever developed big wolf level: challenge through ridiculously high enemy HPs is not good game design. I spent 20 minutes fighting the big wolf (after easily beating all the small wolves), got the wolf down about 25% hps, and quit in disgust. Didn't play again.
P.S. Another -1000 for everyone complaining about the ads. These are free ad supported games. The ads are the reason they are free. If you want the ads to go away, it's simple: Press the 'X' in the top right/top left of your browser window. The ads, hopefully, free these talented game designers up so they don't have to work some shitty day job or spend all their day animating the bits of gore flying away from an explosion in a 1000+ person game studio. Hell, I think even Nerdook still works a day job because people are too cheap to donate to him. Instead of complaining about that ad, take a few minutes to tip...
-1000 for xandramas. This game is fun. It's meant to be fun. The point is to blow shit up. There is no storyline. There is no plot. That's the game.
Go study economics: this game would have cost $50 on a Nintendo 20 years ago. That's like $80 inflation adjusted. I guess for that money you'd get a world map and a lousy three screen story. But please STFU.
Without any differntiation between the classes, this game is #FAIL. Just a lazy game...solidly programmed, but one of the least imaginative flash games I've ever played. Just a color by numbers platformer...
First, 5/5 because Nerdook is the man. NERDOOK FOR PRESIDENT OF THE WORLD! A fun and engaging game.
However, if anyone else had made it, I would only give it 4/5. Reason being..the damned 'overgrind' thing.
GRINDING IS NOT FUN. Don't ask us to play through the levels 50+ times AFTER we have already beaten the game, just to get some lousy badge. It's broken. maybe if you got the $7500 bonus every time..maybe. But as it is, it is simply b-o-r-i-n-g to get that. Games should not reward or ask for repeated mindless playing. I beat the game fair and square; let me feel satisfaction for that instead of frustration for a locked game mode that I will never be able to unlock. I was looking forward the whole time to whatever the hell 'overgrind' is, and it left me disappointed, because I will never take the time to unlock it.
thePodge is becoming one of my favorite game studios. Magnificent Job! Played all 33 through w/o walkthrough, some of the later ones are genuinely hard as hell..very fun game :)
Wait, a badass name like that, and it's a freaking TD game?
I already played Plants vZombies to death. 2 stars for good execution but zero originality.
I think I'm just disappointed because I clicked the link thinking the graphics looked like a Nerdook game, always notable for their unique gameplay. Unique this gameplay ISN'T.
Absolutely one of the best games I've played in a long time.
EXCEPT!
It has a TERRIBLE bug, that makes it nearly unplayable.
On Ubuntu Linux, there is a keyboard bug where about 1/3 of the time it does not register that you have stopped pressing a directional button. So you just keep going, off a cliff, until you tap that button again. Needless to say, for a platformer, this is a big problem. I slogged through the game, just because it was so cool, but can't say it was much fun...
Also, it needs a slow computer setting - turning off those animated enemy health bars, animated inventory, etc.
Other than that, it's fantastic. Good enough to get 4/5 even though it's nearly unplayable on my computer.
Wishlist 1) HOTKEYS. Would make the game SO much more enjoyable. Place offices, place workers, promote, upgrade office, etc!
2) Populate office. If you select a worker type and hold, say, ctrl, it would be GREAT to be able to click on an empty office and fill it with four of the same type. I NEVER found myself mixing workers in an office, so annoying to have click individually on each chair. 3) Save. Absolutely essential for this game. With these features, and a faster computer, it would be really fun to play and play and make a rolicking 100 story corporation. Without them..I was really glad when the game was finished :(
Started on hard mode, beat at day 21. Pwned!
But I gotta say, this game is less than the sum of its parts.
The worst bug, for me, was that SHIFT + PLACE DOESN'T WORK. So I had to spend all my damned time clicking up to the top bar and down to the office. BORING!
Note to devs: CLICKING IS NOT FUN. Give us hotkeys!
Ending was TOTALLY lame. I did all that for.."congratulations building manager?"
What was the secret of world domination? Building Elevators?
I probably could have even beaten it a day or two sooner, but I just go sooooo tired of placing researchers.
Also, on my 7 year old Linux laptop, this game draaaagggged at the end..but I guess that's to be expected.
Solid game, but got more boring the longer I played it. 4/5.
No save = F*** you, Armor Games. Don't waste our time.
Game froze, time wasted. Got to 150/250 achievements, not enough for good ending or card. 1 or 2 stars, lame game experience.
