Dear Kongregate Visitors,
Why is the best game I've ever played on this website rated 3.88 (8th of may 2012)?
Sincerely,
Ekkoe

Using smoke to block the lasers is just a metaphor for drugging yourself to overcome life's problems.
Oh, and one of the most tragic things that I realized, after considering edqwardoe's comment, was that Jack's life is still a wreck in the ending. He's still going towards the left, as Kathryn in the beginning.

I dont get why this isnt rated higher. The puzzles are clever, the mechanics are innovative, the story is moving and the music is so phreaking beautiful that i have this game open while i exercise.
Oh btw, 2DArray, can i get that track from anywhere?

While I didn't like the game mechanic, I have to say that I've loved the game, specially Henry's dialogues. A 5 star game, kongrats

I tried going with Jack in the last level but that level kept repeating itself (probably glitched)...
Try it yourself.
Enter the superjump code then go to the level when they part ways then double-jump when he presses the button and go left.

a truly remarkable game. very deep. very well thought out. and some of the levels with jack felt familiar and similar to levels in Company of Myself. please keep up the good work. i would love to continue playing these games :D

I managed to get stuck in the top left corner on chapter 3 level 18 I believe where they talk about marriage, anyone else?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I like the touch at the last level that the lasers no longer hurt you. I didn't realize that until I accidentally jumped into one trying to solve a puzzle. Great game, good job. Such a sad story...

You know the laws of refraction! You just got a whole extra point for that. =) (By the way, I wonder what the hell these people are breathing that has a higher refractive index than glass or whatever the transparent panels in level 19 or 20 or so are...)

there should be a sequel to this, on how jack really did it to kathryn. then there should be another sequel to the company of myself in which how her kathryn's best friend reacted to this.

That ending which tied the loose ends of the first game. That alone is brilliance. You made a wonderful game. The only suggestion I can think up is a Quality option. (The rain in the Swamp lagged the game quite a bit, making it difficult to time smoke rings.)

So that's what happened to the girl. SPOILER SPOILER--She didn't die. Jack forgot about her. He wants to remember her so badly, but the drugs have ruined that. Poor guy...--SPOILER SPOILER

I gotta say, 2DArray, you make the best story based games, and every little detail is something to be recognized. I saw one person stating about the level exits, and that was incredible. But then, I thought a little. Not only the level exits, but the levels themselves have some significance. For example, the ones I noted, chapter 2 being the cave, everything was dark and gloomy, from what I saw this was the hardest part for Kathryn. The swamp, having her psycologist die, everything felt horrible, just like a rainy day. But then, the meadows, she started talking to Jack, getting to know him. Things were looking brighter. Tell me if I got it right or not, I may just be reading too deeply into things. Anyway, please, keep making these games! Amazing, 11/10 as always!

Spoiler, Though you'll probably already know if you played the first game.
How did I know the meadows was where it happened?
Though... Jack is really messed up, not remembering he chose the wrong path. I litterally cried... Such a great, yet sad story.

There's too much pressure on 4-4... I didn't mess up any rings (finally) And I STILL failed to get through the door at the bottom. Level is more deserving of a badge than EHUP..
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
for those having trouble on level 17 you can push the smoke rings so simply blow a ring and then run in after to push it all the way to the switch

I still think Company of Myself was better because there;s that moment where you realise you'll have to pull the switch to continue. It was interesting seeing that scene again but its not quite the same when you don't pull it.
I only criticise because you came up with the single best moment of telling story through gameplay I've ever experienced in a game and now I hold all other games up to that one moment. The dialogue was much better for this one, but the gameplay was less meaningful

Since "In the company of myself", I considered myself a great fan of yours. Now the "fan level" has risen XD
I really enjoyed those both games. They're funny, puzzled and the history is something deep and surprisingly.
The sad part was that since it is said to be the prequel, we already spected the end. Would me exciting to play this game without knowing this. Maybe just a reference like "From the creator of In the company of Myself" would have been better.
By the way, I motivated myself to learn action script and make flash games like those. Just wait for me!

I thought the most powerful scene in this entire series is when he's just sitting on his couch grinning, not realizing he just killed her.

I love that you made a philosophical game with a sentimental and moral purpose. I think that made the game much more interesting and I found it much more desirable to follow through with the story than most generic games these days. I'd previously played "The Company of Myself" and didn't expect any prequel, but the connection just intensifies the meaning and I think you did a wonderful job. The ending was great as well. It leaves a sense of optimism that the game focuses on. This game seems like it could be a psychological thriller book. Great job.

Just completed the game on old 2005 notebook with Linux. Rainy levels were lagging most, but still playable.
Very cool game! Interesting mechanics, and interesting story. I go to practical psychology group for a while and enjoyed all the dialogues. My respect to story writer.

I always knew that smoking would some day save my life, thanks to this game i will never quit! What if there is a laser threatening to kill me some day...

So many people reached 3-4 & had to end their game there because of how fast that switchable block is? Seriously. Make a 2nd way for 2-4 to be done. That jump AND smoke ring is literally next to impossible. I wouldn't have believed that WAS the solve without seeing it done on a video walkthru.
