It's hard to see how the numbers portion is helpful because it's shape matching, essentially. There has to be a speech function for that to aid in learning. You should take out the area that shows the number/letter they are looking for. Keeping it as the computer talking to the child forces the brain to make a connection rather than seeing 88 and finding it(both visual). Tinker with it.
