Description

Grim Legions is a fantasy turn-based strategy game, played on a hex grid. In Grim Legions, you control units that move around the map trying to capture towns. Each turn, the towns recruit more units. The aim of the game is simply to wipe out your enemy (destroy all their troops and capture all their towns). There can be up to 4 players, and you can make alliances with other players.

There are three different types of troop: infantry, archers and cavalry. There's not much difference between these types, archers are just better than infantry, and cavalry better than archers. Unlike a lot of other games, you can combine multiple troop types in one unit (or "legion"), and you can split and merge them as much as you like.

Map generation is randomized, but you have a lot of control over it. E.g. if you get sick of your units taking ages to move through the mountains, you can just generate a map without mountains. You can also decide how much of the map you want to be water (which no troops can move through), from 0% to 60%. There are also 3 map sizes to choose from. This means - despite the relatively simple gameplay - there are quite a few different scenarios. You can end up spending a lot more time playing this game than you think!

How to Play

Left Click = Select Unit/Town
(Then hover over tile to move/attack)
Right Click = deselect
Right Click + Move Mouse
= Scroll Map
Mouse Scroll Wheel = zoom map
N = select next unit
S = split unit
Q = quick split unit
T = toggle unit done moving
E = end turn
A = alliance menu
M = main menu

The browser could not allocate enough memory for the WebGL content. If you are the developer of this content, try allocating less memory to your WebGL build in the WebGL player settings.

It's set at 512mb, which is usually fine for most people these days. I'll try it at a lower setting and see how it goes. Thanks

hold right click and pan the mouse to scroll, took me a while to find that out. good game, but you can kind of cheat troop movement. i moved all my towns from one end of the map to teh other in a single turn. you just place a couple stacks of troops near spots where normal troop movement ends, then when those troops end, split the smaller, waiting troop by 1, take that 1 soldier troop, move ontop of the moved unit, and it picks up the moved unit, and refreshes the movement of the entire stack to what is left of the single troop unit... i melted the computer with that trick

Nice game, with lots of potential. I would like some input on how terrain affects movement, whether there is a defense/attack bonus, when towns change their recruitment, etc.

For terrain, fields cost 1 movement point, forest 2, hills 3 and mountains 4. There's no effect on combat. Towns start recruiting new kinds of units depending on how long you've held them for. The longer you hold them for, the more likely they are to recruit the next kind of unit type. Thanks for your feedback... glad you're enjoying the game

Game is a great start and has potential. Hope development continues. One big issue I have is that there is no indicator visible indicating whether Full Map will be revealed or if Fog of War setting is on.
