I really liked this game, up until I became a sea lord. I'm very poor at these arcade-style games, but I had thought I'd found one that would reward persistence, by increasing the levels. Unfortunately, sea lord is the last level, and I have all the awards except for destroying Thunder, so there is no way I can earn more starting cash. What was a fun game has now become tedium and frustration, repeating the same objectives over and over without any improvements from the game until that one occasion when my observation and co-ordination last out the entire game. I've downgraded this from 4 stars to 1 star. Shame, I had really loved it there for a moment.

Bug: I have destroyed exactly 5466 enemies (Looking at the highscores) but I still don't have the medal for destroying 5000 enemies.

For hard badge: Have 3000+ starting money. Buy lvl 4, upgrade your ship and lvl 3 loot. Upgrade your ship again and buy buy weapon lvl 4. GO like this for a long time, until you beat the 2nd boss. Upgrade your ship again and buy firerate lvl 4. Aviod bullets at all costs (Not very hard when you really try) and earn some money. When the final boss appears, sell the loot/magnets and buy lvl 3 weapon and lvl 4 speed. When you nearly killed Thunder, sell weapon 3 and speed 4. Buy loot 3 and 4. You'll get a MASSIVE loot. After you get it, upgrade your ship again. Sell loot 3, buy flag 4 and speed 4. You will have great stats. Go on like this until you see the boss. Sell loot 4 and flag 4, buy weapon 3 and firerate . Your ship will have extreme dps. When you almost kill the boss, sell two things, preferably firerate 3 and speed 4. Get loot 3 and 4. Kill the boss. Get the loot. Sell loot, buy flag 4. You can go on forever repeating the same pattern.

I don't know if this is luck based or what, but I probably would've finished the game if the enemies had dropped more anchors.

Hard Badge Guide
1) Get enough starting money to buy 4th Chest upgrade, new ship, and 3rd weapon as soon as you start. (You won't have to worry about collecting money, it comes to you, focus on avoiding bullets). 2) Buy another ship and buy the 4th weapon (Don't sell the 3rd). 3) Buy another ship and buy the 4th fire rate. 4) Buy another ship and purchase the 4th flag. 5) At this point you are a ship-destroying machine and you will get your points all the way to 30,000. 4th level speed may be left but don't buy it. Don't sell 3rd weapon and just avoid bullets.

For the hard badge, max your loot and magnet (i.e. the 3rd and 4th upgrade of looting) at the beginning to get more money; then increase your speed. Make your self as weak as possible, dont upgrade your attack or fire rate. Use the increased speed to dodge enemies' attack, try to hit the enemies with higher hp (e.g. the blue shark and the small boat), in this way you are harder to kill enemies and your "boss arrival" bar fills slower, this means you have more time to see the treasure box, more treasure box = more money = more score. In conclusion: avoid killing enemies and always hit treasure box. Only upgrade your attack if you think there are too much enemies and bullets that you cant handle them anymore. Later sell the 3rd upgrade of looting to buy other upgrades. My final upgrades were 4th weapon, 4th fire rate, no speed upgrade, 4th looting, 3rd and 4th flags. I earned the hard badge in this way, hope it helps :)

How to defeat Thunder(after you've gathered 2K+ of starting money and all upgrades are unlocked):
Buy the three best flag upgrades first, starting from the very best, then buy the best weapon upgrade. If you grind enough money, you'll be able to buy all the upgrades before facing the final boss. Oh, and make sure your dodging skill is quite good.

A bit too easy. I'm not good at this type of games, yet had no troubles earning the "hard" badge (died more of boredom than of difficulty). Though I guess on touchpads it becomes more difficult than with a real mouse.

Now if only I could see half of the bullets the final boss was shooting, but nah, the heavy rain and lightning is much more necessary than actually being able to kill the boss.

Based on BlackHole's Post: Afterward: (2nd boss): Captain: Alright, let's hire some flying eyes to surround the submarine. 1st Mate: Yes sir! Captain: Now, let's surface so we can watch him explode while getting into it's range. 1st Mate: That's a horrible idea. Captain: Do as I say!

I really hate myself: I died on the third rematch with the final boss, my score was 29,475. Just one of those moments when you despise a game.

how about a full out mute option? Only thing I dont like about the game is the inability to completely turn the sound off in game

Y(arrgh)... I had cleared my cache of treasure and my pirate battleship is out of its bay... (I hope that nobody else has cleared out their Internet cache and had to start over for the Badge of the Day!)

winning in one try. just keep upgrading your ship and stacking pirate flags. Also play "Frantic 1" "Frantic 2" and "Frantic 3", after going through that bullet hell this is a cakewalk ;D

That last high comment seems pretty smart:
Disregard the upgrade system completely, except to spend your money on upgrades that allow you to earn more money to spend on more upgrades that allow you to earn even more money...
Yeah, way to go to beat the game!!!

yay! only had to beat up the final boss twice (and die just before facing it the third time) to get 35997 points, and considering i started with a best score of 4,556 I'm happy, still a great game 5/5
